I know this is a serious post but I can't help it... Isn't it funny trying to imagine some evil guy trying to bring the server down? I can picture him as gargamel lookalike with his evil comrades.

Post a few of the ips hitting the server. It's not that hard to turn a botnet against its owner

I do not think the RoR devs feel like fighting fire with fire when it can get them in trouble with the law.

That's why I asked them to post some of the ips. There's more than a few of us who know what to do

As much as I wanted to play the last Days, you all should keep in mind that DDoS Protection is nothing where you can block any ip´s, or regions, or countries. They can be spoofed(fake ips) or global distributed.There are several attack vectors, from brute traffic/pps attack to very fine application attacks, where the applications is attacked itself, normally with a regular handshake. there are solutions out there but they are very expensiv(starting at 70.000$+ yearly fee). and even this kind of solution cant you protect from each attack. As I can see server is now running via cloudflare, which is good because this will drop away the syn floods and even some app attacks.
OVh itself got also a good Defense system for larger attacks. So, most of it is done to prevent ddos attacks. You wont get any 100% protections.

I wasn't gonna make a big point of this when you originally did it, but referring to Russian as a "good-for-nothing language" doesn't reassure me that you have a firm foundation on which to speak about others' prejudices.
