They only exploit a bug, no reason to roll mara just because of it. It's not how they perform under normal circumstances.

Searing Touch is the way it is because of the Archmage's ill thought out mechanic. With max Tranquility you can either fire an instant RL or get a 25% damage bonus to all 3 ticks of ST. ST'S first tick is also instant as you noticed. I checked the combat log, cast bar and WSCT when finding the number of ticks.

The patch is great (as every patch).
Only a bunch of tards from "Tchar'zaneks school for gifted youngsters" is ruining the pvp for everyone else.

As Az said the advantages of ST or RL was based on the use of the AM mechanic.

RL Instant Cast. Lower damage. Higher AP cost. Quicker build of High Magic. Spam with M2.
ST Higher damage. Lower AP. Instant first tick. Slower build of High Magic.

High magic allowed the first RL to be instant so the first tick of ST wasnt an advantage when used with the mechanic.

Hey Tesq. Nice to see alot of old faces still interested in the game.

I'm really am positive its 3 ticks. I used to regularly clip the channel halfway through on the 2nd tick if I need to kite. Im playing swtor currently and the sorc has a similar channel with 4 ticks over 3s and i noted that it had one more tick when I started playing.

Personally I would much prefer it to have 4 ticks as you would have more possible points to clip it.

By the way, Telen, do you remember whether or not Searing Touch breaks if the target is behind an object on the second or third tick?

Yeah it did. It wasn't immediate but I put that down to lag between the clients.

Also a little bit of advice to the devs if they do decide to make balance changes. Move the lifetap dot to level 21. The op nature of the AM in the lower tiers is heavily down to that dot which has no place in T1 and possibly T2 imo.

You could also put a cd on Balance Essence but I think that would hurt the dps AM too much in T4.
