Which is why we need to be more careful about leaving obvious holes in the carefully crafted fabric that is our risk/reward balance in all things. If TV is rewarding too much for doing too little, then we will find a way to correct it. Some players might be interested in progression over all else, but from a development perspective we are interested in engaging content that is fun to play regardless of progression opportunity. TV clearly doesn't meet that mark.galaxgal wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:18 pm People do TV because it has the best reward/time ratio out of all the scenarios. If a smaller, tighter 6v6 or 12v12 scenario gave the same consistent rewards as TV's scoring system, those scenarios would be queued a lot more, too.
You can see how mid-tier scenario queues basically die when TV or a map with a similar scoring design aren't up for this very reason.
At the end of the day, RoR is a progression based MMO. People will go where the progression is. It has nothing to do with the 'casual mindset' or whether people enjoy fighting. This has been said since live.

Re: The Thunder Valley problem
I enjoy TV a lot and would happily queue it up if it gave less than what it is now. Its still a fun map, but cap points and points per kill could be slightly reduced to make it last longer. This way people can't farm it quite as fast.wargrimnir wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:24 pmWhich is why we need to be more careful about leaving obvious holes in the carefully crafted fabric that is our risk/reward balance in all things. I don't disagree; I'm merely noting that there will probably always be a 'player favorite' scenario chosen for its consistency in rewards rather than the quality of its design, for the same reason that everyone wants to go to e.g. city siege even if they probably shouldn't for their own sanity.wargrimnir wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 8:24 pmWhich is why we need to be more careful about leaving obvious holes in the carefully crafted fabric that is our risk/reward balance in all things.
