it is not a "game problem", it is a people's mind problem
because of my experience with WAR i can be a "pug healer" but i will try my best to hold ppl alive, especially this actual until lvl 20 for healers (cos of group heal), so after 20 lvl i'd better to be in group than in "solo mod", just cos i can hold more ppl (even on sc's i went "solo" only if both our groups have 2 healers back on live server)

this game for TEAMPLAY in most possible way which you can try to find anywhere atm (and ofc back in the days), you have good group with 2 healers, 2 tanks, 1aoe, 1direct dps - you can feel yourself good on sc's
you have at least 2 same balanced groups and they are listening to their leader - you will wipe 3-5 groups of enemies by using for your advantage any door, mountain, wall, etc
the game giving you instruments but not giving you the working way - all wins/loses its only results of brain games of ppl
your idea was wrong - you wiped, your idea was right - you won and can use it more but always adapt it to actual situation

but yea its only imo and ofc im wrong cos everybody here playing only to get all and not to give something :mrgreen:
If you are in a SC and not in a group, you should get ZERO renown. There are spots for you so if you dont join a group it just means you are trying to gain more rewards than the rest of players.

ORvR is different, and it is ok to gain renown OOG.

I wish there was a way to make SC's work like before (no group = no renown for kills made by that group).

Agreed, but I'd like to point out that many times, when it looks like people aren't joining, they actually tried, but it bugged out. If such a change was to implemented, I think it's important not to punish those who actually tried to join, but failed, because of the server or whatever.

no point, cos back in days i got burst myself on Kotbs from 1 to 50 for about month or so
just assist your group, support them, also dont forget about "Hold the line" especially on Kotbs
all classes had good renown lvling balance, you just need to understand how to play better, also try to find and group with another ppl, the more ppl know how to play together with different classes in group - the more profit you'll get from it

I don't think running in dieing over and over wouldn't give much renown. The tank would need to stay alive and soak up damage to really benefit from a renown for damage taken mechanic.

To be honest, being a tank is a lot more then take damage.


Bad tanks, try and DPS other tanks and really just focus on trying to kill anyone. No guard, no team play, just trying to kill the closest person to them

Decent tanks, harass the oppositions backline, while guarding a melee dps, but not necessarily assisting off them or staying near them.

Good tanks, harass the oppositions backline, guards a melee dps, follows them and assists off them.

Best tanks, harass the oppositions backline, guards a melee dps, follows them and assists off them, watches their own backline and pulls back to save healers/squishee dps by peeling when needed.

Yup, and I think people should be encouraged to play as "the best tanks". But you could of course argue that winning fights because you are playing good, is it's own reward. Not only in terms of moral, but also renown, kill quests, and drops.

I actually thought about it yesterday. I know I might get in trouble for saying this, but I'd argue that tanks have the most stressful "job" in WAR:

- Interrupting casts with Taunt on cd
- CCing focus targets or healers
- Challenge the majority of the enemy DPS on cd
- Guard switching and keeping in range
- Harrass the enemy backline
- Peeling
- Buffing defensive targets in need
- Debuffing focus targets
- Channel Hold the Line whenever needed
- Last but not least, try to help killing the focus target

That's a ***load to do, lol. Now, this is obviously not a whine. I love doing all these things. It's so much fun! So hectic. Almost feels like a war :P

Ok,ok, didnt mean to get renown from rushing in zerg and dieing, was thinking to get reward for buffing/taking dmg from guarded players etc ...
and didnt ask how to play tank, :mrgreen: i know how to play 1 even i dont play it alot :ugeek:
