I remember that. What a shock to actually have communication with the devs. To have them actually say 'Yes. Yes. Also, yes. How right you are' to my criticisms of how mitigation, dps healers and the bw mechanics just weren't functioning correctly as the game has evolved.
After years of 'we can't discuss it', 'soon tm' and 'please post ideas on x in this thread' then never hearing anything about it. Probably at that point when there was only keaven and a few server techs left they just thought **** it EA are going to can us soon anyway lets just give straight answers.
Underneath all the games problems and band aids like TB. There is probably the best class designs of any mmo. They just decided to not bother try to make them actually work as intended.

God, that must have been satisfying.Telenn wrote…
The bw/sorc mechanic was never meant to sit at 100 constantly. They were meant to use the meltdown. But with healing and endgame gear they can stay at 100 with inflated dps. Same as the dok/wp mechanic with constant healing from the backlines is broken and the shaman/am cast reduction mechanic is broken.
They were nice ideas, a caster that self harms and has to manage its damage bonus, a melee healer that has to attack to charge its heals and a caster that weaves between heal and dps for maximum effect.

That SM buff on PTR was what made me to roll SM as main tank insted of my lovely IB. I didnt pass thru T3, because there was already stated the end of war in December:-(
The SM buff puts him closer to Kotbs in terms of usefullnes for party buffs, while IB is still far behind those 2. IB needed more love, because he has no AOE debuffs( only AOE snare, AOE root and only single target crit chance and armor debuff + his single target buffs like +XY strenght, +10%crit, +XYtoughnes is what Kotbs make for whole group. IB can also buff +25% parry, armor buff(doesnt stack with armor pots) +XY willpower(doesnt stack with other Willpower buffs) and magic absorb bubble, but its still far behind group usefullnes.

I remember ppl saying with the SM changes that they would take the 2nd tank slot in groups for the aoe armor debuff, and ppl thought slayer aoe damage was already alot.Vdova wrote:That SM buff on PTR was what made me to roll SM as main tank insted of my lovely IB. Still wouldn't have been enough imo to have SM or BO over the other 4 tank classes. Only in Bomb groups was a SM used and only for Whispering Wind and nothing else.

Problem with Eng/Magus, mainly DoT based, is that every DoT tick goes through tooughness, instead of the whole amount of damage at once. That makes DoTs very weak.

You are using only 2 of Magus dots anyway, if specced for single target. No big deal. Btw, you main targets usually have low toughness.dkabib wrote:Problem with Eng/Magus, mainly DoT based, is that every DoT tick goes through tooughness, instead of the whole amount of damage at once. The engi/magus changes basically free a tactic slot. The tactic on the other hand saves a lot AP while resummon the deamon/turret. A tough choice not to take the tactic, which makes the suggested changes only halfway usable.
Dying is no option.
