Played it entirely for the PVP. And the chicks. WAR groupies were just top notch talent!

Well, I thought you as of an elitist asshole back at the heyday of BW forums and you only proved me right Penril.
To proclaim your victory is like asking "what club is the best in Premiership history" ON ManUtd forum and then acting all victorious like because you got...ManUtd(what a surprise!) as a top answer. Now, I wonder if the answer would be different if you asked different people on more general forums.
Plus you PvPers are a horrible bunch. See, you don't know how to relax. A game is meant to relax you, NOT to pump you up. And I'm fully aware that we're reciprocal on this issue(we are 1 / x from eachother). Grinding can be soothing and relaxing experience. Add story, good universe, nice artwork...yeah, life's good! I don't need bloody PvP tyvm!
And, surprise surprise, over 80% of MMORPG players are people like me. So, Mythic failed even when they thought they could get away with this(especially half assed version of that venture). Crazy.

You obviously have NO idea why this thread was made. Let me try to explain it slowly:Gorwe wrote:Well, I thought you as of an elitist asshole back at the heyday of BW forums and you only proved me right Penril.

1) This is not WAR. This is AoR. Anything that happened with WAR or Mythic is irrelevant at this point.
2) Lots of people were asking the devs (around january) to work on PvE (for RoR). Which was stupid at that point since most of the PvP/RvR stuff wasn't fixed or working correctly.
3) I pointed out that most of RoR's players back then were here mostly for PvP, and they said "lol no you elitist prick, we care about PvE!!!".
And that's how this thread was born. TBH i haven't kept track of it for around 4-5 months, i was just surprised people were still posting here. And also, i couldn't care less if you think i'm an elitist asshole. Because, truth be told, i AM an elitist asshole.

Re: Did you play WAR for the PvE or the PvP?
There was very little about WAR that I didn't like outside of the developer decisions. That being said..
What WAR did was grabbed dozens of the iconic areas, cities, and landscapes of the WHFB setting and put function to them. I am an Explorer type when it comes to MMO's. I like to run across every possible corner of the world as see all the things there are to do. In this aspect, I consider PvE to be very important for a healthy game. WAR did PvE rather well considering the scope they managed to grasp. Lair Bosses are not just in T1, they're in every tier, lots of them are R40 heroes that take a well geared group to fight.
I don't particularly enjoy questing, but WAR threw a significant amount of resources into the story it was telling. It's not a happy fun story either, there's a LOT of death and chaos. Most zones have several long quest chains that reward very nice loot at the end of them. Public Quests were unique at the time, and turned large areas of the map into interactive stories that spawned fights requiring at least a full group, sometimes more. This added a reason to group up with people and fight to see the conclusion (as well as get phat gold loot bags).
Dungeons were not particularly well done, but I enjoyed running the lower level ones the most. Mount Gunbad in particular was probably the best, especially on an ORvR server where you could run into a group of players and have to fight them AND the environment simultaneously. It didn't happen often, but it really shakes up the pacing. Definitely exciting. The later dungeons were largely ignored once ToVL came out, a damn shame I think. Each of those dungeons were very much worth running, and had significant challenges that drove away lesser guilds from even attempting them unless massively overgeared.
RvR and Scenarios, that whole aspect of the game, could be totally separate and would be well worth playing on it's own. That seems to be the focus currently, or grinding for loot. Once the rest of the tiers open up, I expect that to change. T1 is small, designed for the first 8-12 hours of play if you take your time. I'm always queued for scenarios, and I would love to find a good RvR battle. Both aspects add to the game, but they're not the sole component. I find the world itself, the stories, the locations, the dungeons, the PQ's, generally, yes the PvE, to be the most interesting parts of the game.
But the main reason I play is to wreck people in RvR.

Leveled to 40 doing PvE for the WH story because it was simply THAT awesome!
Started RvR, sc's and zones wearing t2 and t3 armor in t4 and that was all I did except for farming for mats to make talies and pots once a week and once every 2 weeks a tovl run with friends.
Leveled naturally, 4 toons to 100, 3 toons to 90+

I think the only thing WAR pve was missing was an epic quest ala DaoC. Say a conq. equivalent set or maybe warlord. Or maybe make purple lair gear sync up and provide set bonuses among the sets. I also loved exploring and I might mention Bastion Stair as an old favorite. Speaking of the raids that's where I got to know my old guildies: Munhel, Galadar, Des, Vohannyn, Shinobi. I miss the **** out of those assholes and running raids was where I got to know them as we wiped constantly and complained about real life.

I'd just like to see t4 opened up and the gear put back.. who cares if the NPCs aren't working properly for the stuff in t1-t3. Close that stuff up and work on the meat and potatoes imo..
