2nd'd'd for no daily CRAP. That's not creating content that people enjoy, that's creating an unneeded grind with gates so that people feel obligated to login. If you want numbers, just useless numbers, do that. If you want people that login to play and enjoy the game, don't.
I'm only in t2/t3, so I have no idea what goes on in t4 save people's comments here, but I enjoy the current status of the game. I wish my character was a bit tankier, but overall can't complain.
Zergs have always been no fun. How to fix that? Break off into a different group with like minded people (we do have alliances) and start a fight separately. This server, this game, is a small community. You play against the same people every night. I think it should be possible to figure out a way to make the game more fun for everyone / remove zergs. Let the pugs zerg, and the guilds / alliances run groups that work to a cause.
As an aside, I hate fights where the numbers are entirely skewed. I go into partial afk mode if my side outnumbers the other side. The renown / medal / etc isn't worth the bleh experience. I play this game because I enjoy it, the lore, and the experience. I do believe that there needs to be some small tweaks at t4 to allow (especially with cities) for players to see the content without living on the game, but lower tiers seems fine.
The goal in all of this is to have fun and experience something that by all intensive purposes, died before its time. We should keep that in mind and get over our own egos for what WE want individually.

I agreed with theoddone. Let's test multiple open zone. Two weeks will be enough to see if this work or not. With VP system it's impossible to ninja enemy keep. And that was one of main reason to implement one zone battlefield system.

as long as the Userinterface lacks this much information opening all zones would only result in keep sneaking and no one would even know where the fight would be going on. You need a UI that is ready for such a big task. a UI that tells you when a zone is being sneaked and a UI that tells you where you should go if you want rvr action.

Multiple zones was still zergy so I dont understand why even consider it. It just dilutes action.

The path an RvR game or open world pvp game takes is entirely dependent on the players.
Was it any better in guild wars, dark age of camelot, etc?

Server pop. increased greatly/frequently when T3 and T4 were introduced, the downtime ended those server pop. rises.
I have no idea how much scenario kill points being nerfed contributed to any server pop. decline.
It's probably more likely that the introduction of T3 and T4 produced server pop. spikes and that current server pop. decline is simply a matter of perspective.

Speaking about people leaving, i believe that a core aspect of the game is infact, to crash the morale of the enemy.
Not his morale points, his spirit, his soul, not the soul of the character, the soul of the player, the player who wants to play a game in his free time, to have fun, which is the opposite of getting his soul stampeded under a sea of zerglings.
I mean we all have seen it, especially in destro, people who are so bummed and sad that they just can't go on anymore, they quit, they give up, they just didn't sign up for this **** and worst of all, they decide to turn coats, casting their lot with the ordies, which is even more soul crushing because they now have to associate with and stand within smelling distance of the midgets, who as we all know, are filthy, utterly despicable and in dire need of a punting.
From a certain point of view one could call this a critical flaw rather than a core game aspect...

Also the one RvR lake at a time situation now is wearing thin for me.
