Standards

Being an alpha release game doesn't mean there should be, essentially, no rules. People run around harass whomever they want, behave any way they want, wait to get the last hit on your monster to basically steal it from you, and now names. People naming their characters Bitch. And now ******. Saw one the other day that was something like "Oneeasyho."

Does being Alpha mean we have no rules or standards of conduct? I've looked and seen no published list of rules. And the only time I've seen staff take interest in some player's behavior was a certain Shadow Warrior that had to reach server-wide infamy before it was even brought up.

In the absence of code fixes (which I understand can be hard) to prevent these things, should we have a list of rules telling people not to do it? Because as much as we shouldn't need it, people need rules posted to read to know not to do it. Some people need special instructions to behave properly.

Love the game. Just want to see it taken seriously by all. That is the basis of my concern and nothing else. Please? Can we get a code of conduct? Some rules in place? Or are there some that I have simply been unable to locate?

There is another thread (about cheaters) where most people agree that, currently, it is hard to keep track of them. And having a level cap of 10 (and free accounts) means that even if they delete your account, you can create a new one and get to 10 in a day. This applies to rude people as well; you can't really punish them atm.

As for these "conduct rules" i think they are not necessary. People with common sense will behave accordingly, and assholes will be assholes. What makes you think they will follow certain rules?

I've asked two separate people to stop stealing my stuff. They say it isn't in the rules. Whereas, if it is in the rules, they cannot claim innocence or feign ignorance. And without recourse, it provides clear avenues for players to report the misconduct to staff for investigation and action.

That is why every other game out there has these rules. Because assholes will be assholes.

Rules aren't the means of their own enforcement. Rules exist as a warning to players that certain kinds of conduct will result in a sanction.

RoR is in a kind of transitional period between the lawlessness of the first months and something actually approaching enforcement of a code of conduct, but it's going to take time to implement.

With such a small playerbase being an asshole or having a bad attitude will only have a negative effect on that person, dont stress about it.
If like you said players are deliberately stealing mob kills do what i did when serp molot done this to me, switch sides and farm the idiot relentlessly.

This is an excellent way to deal with rude people: with PvP.

As Azarael stated in his post. These days are numbered, and we are currently formulating a set of rules/guidelines which all will have to follow. Once the bases of that are set, we can then enforce them in game just as we have done on the forum.

Sorry, i didnt mean to say "not necessary". What i meant was that they were probly not a priority atm considering that anyone you ban can simply make a new (free) character and level it to 10 in a day. There is no real deterrent atm against cheaters or rude people. Now if you were to ban someone with, let's say, a couple cr40 rr100 characters, i'm sure people would definitely be more careful and follow every rule.
