You lose dirty tricks/5 sec kd for wounds debuff/crimson death, and neither of those classes are gaining much damage from picking up the 2h (they can spec s/b dps), for instance on the knight all the mechanisms like runefang, emperors champions etc... are all usable with s/b.
The amount of survivability you lose dropping the shield along with HtL as well, means you have to focus more on def stats when using a 2h to find that sweetspot where you won't die guarding someone or become a burden to your healers etc... Of course that is going to vary group to group, better players/healers means you can get away with a lot more.
