it happened a while back, their server licence or something something I did not understood was expired, and you had to set your pc date to an earlier date where their licence was working for you to access the server. they will probably fix it soon.

Was having same issue. I reverted my pc date to april 16 (random previous date) and it works now.

If my memory does not fail me, the healing cost was tied to the level of the character back on live. That would be less harsh for new players with low level characters, since 20s per death is pretty steep for starting players in t1.
