Bit off topic, but OP's post really hightlights the problem with the name hoarding: People claim names and have them sit idle on some low level char, because they MIGHT at some point in the future want to play the char with that exact name (then they leave RoR and may not even come back).

I have a character named Votann for some time. All of the sudden his name changed to Votann69A259D9 and it says a have to rename because I got a duplicate name. How did that happen? Name was mine already. How can someone get my name and make me change?

Is there a way to change the character's name? Like buying a name change token or something similar. I'm aware of the .namechange command, but that's not what I'm asking, because that can only be done once a month and for one character only.
