I would take the decay system further and introduce Sabotage system. Giving players a task to increase the rate of decay meaning small groups and solo players can sabltage the enemy keep and lower the rate at a much faster pace. Forcing some groups/wbs to come and defend against saboteur parties.

This topic has been brought up several times since the sc rework and many people including myself said that they just need to introduce better rewards to motivate people to que up. We can only hope that the dev team saw these and they will react soon.

Please for the love of god, encourage players to play the new sc because its good, but sometimes the que times are too long. This would be a perfect way to do it. Maybe do like a weekly quest aswell if you did the daily 5 times you get the ranked token you need for tri/vic rings as rankeds are ...

This suggestion has been raised couple times before. They could introduce different kind of daily objectives and quests or progression system for different playstyles like solo, 6 man, scenarios encouraging these aspects of the game as well instead of BLOBBLOB and enjoy your crests.

Isn't guard calculated after absorb? Afaik only thing that works before the absorb is toughness calculation. Absorb real value is that it negate crit hits so on theory lower amount of absorb but more often is better
