Hey i remember playing this game at like 2008 for a brief period. Anyways now i learned about this server and wanted to give it a go.
Mostly gonna play solo (hope i bring friends later if i like it) so what you guys suggesting as a class? (career here right)
I like classes that are not op but not that squishy either. In fact thinking of rolling a bright wizard how are they?
Open for any career tho, i like them all Warhammer cool and funny.

Re: Return to ror
most veterens suggest to play multiple classes to lvl 10 or 16 (end of the first level cap T1)
and it just highly depends on your personal taste. you like dps, healing or tanking? i can tell you that tanks and healers are always in demand and you will find a spot in warbands/parties with no problem. if you play dps you will have a hard time finding descent groups and are forced to run with PUGs (pick-up group) where the rest of players (mostly 20 dps, 2 tanks and 2 heals lol) which is not a very good expierince imo.
but thats just a suggestion. try out different classes (it takes not that much time till lvl16) and stick with that is the most fun for you.

Re: Return to ror
Bright wizard might be the worst choice for solo play.
Ranged classes are easier for solo play because they allow you to zerg surf and kill enemies from afar.
Theres some healers that have dps offspecs such as runepriest or arch mage, these will give you a good time because you can deal dmg and heal.
If you wanna be more of a frontliner you could try a tank, or mdps like white lion.
Witch hunter is the stealth rogue class and is super strog atm for solo play.

Re: Return to ror
I assume you will focus in oRvR on Order as your primary gameplay, is that correct?
Solo as Bright Wizard is a state of art. Incredibly demanding.
As pug (joining random open warband thru in-game function) you will have pretty bad experience with it after you leave tier 1 (after career rank 16). Bright Wizard is good pick for warbands but you need proper party compositions, synergies etc which is very rarely to find in open warbands.
If you want selfsufficient class on order roll Witch Hunter (stealth solo ganker), Shadow Warrior (ranged DPS, perfect for leeching and zerg surfing) or White Lion (good for solo roaming and also currently best DPS in warbands for oRvR). Engineer is great option but very skill demanding, very hard to be efficient as newcomer. Slayer is also great DPS but just as Bright Wizard very group reliant.
You can also play healers in DPS offspec as solo. Archmage being easiest and most effective followed by Runepriest and Warrior Priest i dont recommend for newcomer as melee you will probably struggle, they work best in DPS offspec in smallscale groups tho, the only one who brings decent things into warband as DPS is Runepriest. While leveling its better to stay pure healer before you decently gear up.
As for tanks, order side they all are very viable, have their own pros&cons and places within specific group compositions. You will quicker find spots in groups at any level. However, tank role in AoR/RoR is incredibly unique and important, basics are pretty easy but many nuances at high end organised gameplay are demanding. Crucial note: depending on your playtime you may find it very boring to PvE, grind some PQs as solo. Solo roaming on tanks is somewhat okaish, but only in preBiS/BiS gear, so you will have to always look for groups for good experience while you level and gear up.
As learning curve goes i believe best experience is to try pure healing first on "easy" class (Runepriest, Warrior Priest) so you get a grasp of whats going on overally, then pick easy tank class (Knight of the Blazing Sun) and then go for any kind of DPS.
Overally all careers are pretty playable, currently many consider White Lions as OP. I suggest to avoid very skill dependant careers as your first picks, those are Ironbreaker and Engineer mainly. To some extent Swordmaster and Archmage can somewhat worry newcomer in terms of effeciency as they aint so straight-forward as Knight of the Blazing Sun and Runepriest/Warrior Priest.
