No need much crit gear
Hello,
I wonder why there are so many 2H tank's weapons with crit?
I imagine it's beneficial for some tanks, but these are very niche and also very weak builds tbh.
Regarding the Kotbs, I've tried several full crit builds, both solo and in warbands/smallmen, and they're just terrible.
It's already difficult for a 2h kotbs to have sufficient survivability by simply stacking strength, so sacrificing even more defenses for a high crit chance, knowing that enemies have anti-crit and that there are counter-crit tactics like the WE one, is ridiculous.
You need to understand that stacking crit, whether in renown, gear, or consumables, significantly reduces parry chance, strength, wounds, anti-crit, etc.
To get at best 40/50% crit chance under tactic debuff, which will be debuffed by enemy anti-crit, while knowing that tank damage is low to begin with.
Critical hits are really useful for classes with significant DPS, like a class that hits for 500-600 and crits for 1200. A tank hits for 150-200, so their crit is only 300-400, making it very useless.
And as we've said a thousand times, purely glass cannon builds for tanks are completely unviable or is very niche for the guys who wanna troll on the lakes. You better go DPS.
Therefore, I think it would be good to rethink this niche crit stat on many tank weapons (especialy the bis ones Fortress and bloodlord) and perhaps replace it with defensive stats or increased strength, or melee power. Obviously, I'm not saying you should remove all crit option, you can keep 1 or 2 weapons that might be crit-oriented, but actualy it's too much, and forcing to play lower tier weapons if you're strictly pvp, or you have to do LV..

Crit isn't just there for dealing damage—it also procs tactics that require crit as a trigger, e.g. with Chosen, where the whole group becomes less crit-vulnerable.

BiS tactic for smallscale -10% TBC for whole group is huge.Lescargo wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 2:40 pmnot playing chosen but pretty sure it's a niche tactic.Destro123 wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 2:32 pm Crit isn't just there for dealing damage—it also procs tactics that require crit as a trigger, e.g. with Chosen, where the whole group becomes less crit-vulnerable.

for 2 reasons
1 - to give options for those who want them and for classes which can utilize it
2 - many are of older design, coming from a different state of the game
there are as many, if not more options, without crit if you want to build defensively such as for avoidances. more so in the past (but also currently) there are multiple tanks who, depending on the content and group composition and goals they are trying to meet, have a desire for crit. this is mostly true in forms of content with more organization and less players such as 6v6 or 12v12 SCs and city siege for ST parties
if you look back just a couple years ago most of the top tanks in ranked for example you would find wearing some mixture of offensive sov and victorious set such as 5offsov/4vic, 6vic/3offsov or 6offsov/3vic setups, with above average amounts of crit chance. this is because they sought to maximize damage as they were already confident with their mechanical abilities and positioning and that of their allies, so they could afford to build in to a bit of extra damage to push out more pressure
chosen and BG are the main ones who come to mind as they have tactics and/or abilities which work directly with crit or otherwise provide some incentive to gear for crit. many IB, BO and SM players found themselves gearing similarly in the past too, especially before 2h IB/BO had changes that incentivized gearing more defensively and promoted prevalence of SnB being so strong even in smallscale. many of the more confident and competent players who play in highly organized groups still engage with more damage heavy tank builds like this even today

You are right and i know what you are really saying.
