[Blackguard] Blade of Ruin disscussion

While we wait for az to test out blackguard and see what he feel needs improvement and the inevitable CD buffs i throught we could start a discussion about perhaps the most weakest and underwhelming ability available to the class.

BoR is a weak slow tick DoT that was never specd on live and so i wanted to talk about whether the ability needs to be changed to something else or if the DoT itself needs to be made more powerful or something of that nature.

If we change the functionality to be a debuff or buff type ability then what could we change it to?

BG already has tough, wounds, armor, int, wp, block/parry, crit chance debuffs and self tough str and wp buffs so i dont know what we need to change it to

If its going to remain a dot then the needs to be significantly strengthened.

The last thing we need to consider tough is if this ability should be restricted to 2H only and buff the playstyle something exclusive besides CD or make it open to DPS SnB BG as well

CD buff? Why sould it be buffed? For me it looks like a pretty good ability with high damage and +10% crit chance for a targets. With a tactic for 15% crit it gives us 25% critchance for Enraged Beating.

5s duration, to short to be used efficiently and as it is not a good upside for all that is lost by the lack of a shield

It used to be 10s by accident and no one complained but az was forced to "fix it" to reflect how it was on live even though he didn't really agree with it so if it could be put back on to 10s and also perhaps made undefendable so that we can always consistently apply the crit debuff

We already have skill for debuffing parry/block - "Furious Howl" 10% for 15 seconds

How about making it an exact mirror of cavein, in terms of damage and hatred scaling, and make it last the same length in terms of the DoT. But instead of a KD it places a debuff the same duration of the DoT that causes any KD/silence/disarm used on that target to last 1 sec longer.

BG still wont have any hard CC in 2h spec, but will make up for a bit with this allowing them to enhance anyone elses hard CC and the damage is of course better, scales, and is being delivered to the target over 5 seconds.

It also has counterplay, and will require a bit of coordination to get the most out of the skill.

I'm thinking that we should either give it more DMG or make it into a utility skill. In case it would become a utility skill I would like to see that it should require a 2h weapon just to make 2h blackguard a tad more unique.

I support Jaycubs suggestion as it would be something new and BG would play a greater support role while keeping true to the vision of the BG as Debuff tanks.

id say something AOE that require 2h like maybe an heal debuff of 25% to mirror chosen aura so that there would be a reason to bring a BG instead BO while going bomb.

OR go for a broken 3 sec aoe KD that require parry. So that if order wanna have op rkd we have op aoe kd

Anyway if i dont remember badly aza said that due the fact that we cannot change the client currently when a skil is used it will force the use of that animation and sometimes also that effect so i don't know if every change is possible maybe it wouldn't be able to change it to something AOE

I dont see Blade of Ruin being that bad.
It acts like a easy access damage ability for BGs who want more damage than debuffs and spec a lot of points into the other trees, works well with armour debuff, provides extra pressure for the next 10 sec and it does not realy need to be all that beneficial just for 5 point.
Definitely not remaking it into another utility, BG has a lot of already. Maybe lower the cooldown.
