New Player advice
Re: New Player advice
I just picked a race I liked (dwarves) and roled 3 different classes of them. It gives you variety in game play and some flexibility with trade skills too.
In the dwarf language there are over 500 words for the concept of revenge, and only one for the concept of forgiveness.

Re: New Player advice
For the time being I'll be playing solo, but I may get a friend into this at some point.
Just wondering, what sort of combinations would work well on a 2 player basis?
Probably something involving a pocket healer or pocket tank, but if you know 2 classes who work well together in bursting down single targets, I would also appreciate it. Any silly but fun combinations would also be welcome.

Re: New Player advice
2 Player Combos for RvR mostly consist of a range DPS and a Healer. Basically Brighty + Archmage, or Shadow Warrior + Archmage. Allthough you can still run the same with a Runepriest, but the AM is simply better used for kiting and has a more damage even as a healer. For scenarios you can run the same, but you can also have a lot of fun with Tank+Healer - but thats not as good as Rdps+Heal in open PvP

Um .... Ironbreaker + Warrior Priest

Re: New Player advice
So after happily zerging my way through the t1 battlefields and scenarios for the last 2 days, I'm level 9, renown 13.
Just wondering, do the upper tiers become a bit more varied and switch things up a bit? Will there be other things to do than them to advance in the game?
I mean the novelty of the game hasn't worn off yet and I'm having fun, but it might become a bit of a slog and harder to play the game for extended time periods.

Re: New Player advice
First off, get into the scenario que.... A lot more varied game play there. I've found it directly rewarding. And there is armor now that you can buy with scenario medallions which is on par with the rvr lakes.
Second find a guild you like. Make friends blah blah blah.
And personally I'm finding the RoR project amazingly interesting in itself.

Re: New Player advice
Well so I've finally found a class and faction I'd like to keep playing (Zealot) and I'm shortly before T2 (11/13).
Anything I should pay special attention to? Quests I should pick up? Maybe polish up my gear through PvE? Any special or new mechanics awaiting me?
Or should I just pick up the kill quests from all 3 campaigns and grind battlefields and scenarios till t3, like I did in t1?
As far as crafting is concerned, so far I've been just leveling cultivating, which leaves me barely enough plants to be self sufficient, but not enough to really level apothecary. I assume it's not worth spending much money on growth supplement for low level seeds and you'll be able to quickly level up apothecary once you're higher up, with more slots?

Re: New Player advice
Only quests worth "picking up" are the rvr kill quests in the war camps
special things to look for is making usre you never spec or play dps zelot and at 17 you should spec chaotic force tactic

Re: New Player advice
Well on one hand I'm glad I don't have to do any tedious errands, but on the other hand I'm a bit let down. So there also aren't any quest that I can pick up that encourage me to go to the next zone?TenTonHammer wrote:Only quests worth "picking up" are the rvr kill quests in the war camps

Thanks though.
