For a new player

SW>WL>BW>Engineer>Slayer>WH

MDPS in general needs guard and healing to perform well, so I wouldn't really recommend it for a new player, but WL is the most independent of them. Engineer is considered pretty awful for 6v6 type fighting except for the very niche magnet role in a particular group setup.

SW is def the best class for new players on order, self sufficient... good solo or in a group thanks to inc heal debuff and RKD. Good in OrvR, doesn't rely on guard, has plenty of escape tools, and only needs a minimal amount of healing thanks to 110ft range at keeps etc...

If you just want to do ORvR and don't really care about the more competitive side of the game like scenarios engineer is probably a better chance than SW... just not as well rounded.

Or you can not cheap out and not play one of the easiest classes in the game, work for your kills so that they mean something

So, which class do you suggest me instead SW? WL or engineer? I would like a class with a little of challenging, but not extremely difficult

Id go more sw > engi > am > bw > slayer > wl > wh. Ranged are just so much easier now, especially in t4, though bw might be a little harder to level on with combustion. Its still a good thing to learn melee, but for their first class id pick sw/eng, or dps am (even though their universally hated).
Aenea - SW / Aeneaa - AM
Sizer - Shaman / Artsupplies - Sorc

DPS AM can be a very effective single-target assist, with the most powerful ST DoTs at this level. Of the 10000 I've seen, only about 2 are actually using the class well. It's a very easy class to use as well. Similar to WoW's Affliction Lock in 3.3.5.

Yeah pretty similar, you just lack a cleanse deterrent (and **** me, 5 secs silence + huge nuke on UA was big), an execute, a teleport, multiple cc tools and one of the best burst damages in the game.

So not similar at all besides that they use dots to do part of their damage and thhe fact that one of them heals you for a bit while it does damage. But i am sure you agree that transfer force is nowhere near as good as corruption ever was.

Aff locks were a beast in Wotlk, good for anything from 1vs1 to bgs passing by every arena comp and great at pve.

The problem with DPS AM is aside from solo it really only works well in a 3-2-1 group, brought for puddle, inc HD, insta res, off heals, and OK damage. It doesn't do enough damage to really work in 2 DPS group, but right now it really thrives in 3-2-1.

I would say it's the most difficult class I have played in some situations, obviously not 1v1. But when you are in situations where you are the only healer or one of two your desicion making skills needs to be stellar. 90% of DPS AM I see don't bother taking advantage of the mechanic to heal when needed, some don't even heal themselves. I can't even count how many times I have seen an AM not even break 5k healing in a SC which blows my mind since that's like 2 group heals w/ 200 wp and -25% healing.

My main char was always an affli lock from TBC up until MOP. Post-MOP I made a SP (raid finished 12/13 Mythic on Argent-Dawn) then I left.

I was comparing the two in regards to how they deal their damage, i.e. application of DOTs to a target/several targets, and then using radiant lance (Shadow bolt) and searing touch (drain soul - without execution addition) as fillers.
TBH I always thought Magus/Engi should have an Unstable Affliction equivalent, i.e. something that would deter people from cleansing a dot or two, lest they get hit for a huge amount, or an execution phase =P

So, DPS AM could be a challenging class. Which path is better for him, Asuryan or Vaul?

In Wow, i loved shadow priest. DPS AM is similar?
