That deal was most likely made with the game developer years ago, those games take a while to make.
GW isn't going to tell them to stop making it or something though just because they decided to wipe out WHFB and make AoS. Who turns down money? Heh
I agree, I think "Age of Sigmar" is the foundation to relaunch Warhammer Fantasy. Another thing that's interesting, is Total War: Warhammer is already referencing "The End Times" in-game. The image below I cropped from the Total War: WARHAMMER Gameplay Video - Azhag's Quest Battle Let's Play that came out a few days ago:

(By the way, how do you center an image?)
It reads:
"The enemy will remember this defeat - it will be scorched into their racial memory until the End Times and beyond."
HOLY SIGMAR!! That's a blatant reference not only to "The End Times", but also "Age of Sigmar"!
If they're referencing the current state of the IP in this video game, that means Creative Assembly received preemptive knowledge from Games Workshop of the direction for Warhammer Fantasy years ago. If you'll indulge me, on December 6th, 2012, SEGA and Creative Assembly announced their partnership with Games Workshop to create a Warhammer Game.

The point I'm trying to make is this: Total War: Warhammer is not being made as a standalone product. I think this tells us it wasn't a fluke. And if that's the case, that means Games Workshop has NOT given up on the Old Warhammer World at all. I think in some ways this was poorly executed, but I don't think Games Workshop has abandoned that setting. There's hope in that, for the future of the IP.
