FPS Issues

Hey all!

For those of you who knew me, I am sour/ordie (played on badlands in Obliteration). I just installed this via the 5 winrar files and am pumped to play WAR again. However,I seem to have a pretty bad fps issue and have no clue what is causing it. My computer is an ASUS ROG, only a few months old and runs EVERYTHING on max settings with no problems. I am wondering if I did something wrong in the installation maybe? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sourheals

first thing to check would be how fragmented your files are, war as always strongly affected by that

Hey man thanks for the response. How would I go about doing that haha? This is literally the first thing I have ever had to unzip.

Windows has a built in tool, start/accessories/systemtools/disk defragmenter. But typically its set on automatic on most systems these days so its not as big of an issue as in the past. But if its not on automatic it could have very serious performance impacts with a badly fragmented disk.

When ur running the game and notice bad FPS, open your task manager and goto resource manager under performance tab. Check what part of your system is being maxed out. That way youll know what you need to fix.

Most likely you'll have a memory or CPU issue and youll be able to see what applications are taking up most of your resources. You need to find some background processes or services that you can stop. If you have some type of antivirus, try disabling it or turning off active scan.

If you still have issues, its probably some malware or virus, try doing scans. Or alternatively u can make a new user on windows and start semi fresh.

third party software, since the automatic one by windows is...not good.
I'm personally using http://www.piriform.com/defraggler , but anything turning up when searching for defrag on your software page of choice should help and look and work similar.

DO NOT defrag SSD if you got game on it already

The game engine just sucks , even on i7/gtx970s you'll get poor performance. You'll get 60fps with that on max graphics and it will drop to 1 to 10 fps in large fights.
Places like Ostland/Troll Country really sucks performance wise due to the trees.

Thank you all for your responses! Unfortunately I cant even open WAR all of a sudden. I tried to delete the files and just install it again since I am worried I messed something up the first time, but they say I require permission from "desktop-something" to delete. Kind of at a loss with my technical capabilities lol.

try a restart, not being able to delete is often related to some other program having files opened
