Think of it like buying designer clothes in season! Was it really a waste now that you can by a cheap knock off of it in a thrift store for an 8th the cost? Cost of fashion.

Chaos Black will always have old school cred. Anyone can buy Order of the Gryphon Black, but every bottle of Chaos Black needs to be dropped.

Purple wasn't the color of kings because it looked good, but because it was hard to get.

- The recipe for destroying textures on armor that was previously known as "badab" black has been lost, some say Sigmar smote it himself but the upshot is the newly discovered Order of the Gryphon Black has taken its place. Its a little more expensive but the quality that allows textures to remain isn't cheap.
- Prices for vendor dyes have been adjusted to the rates they were sold at on live. This means the 2010 expansion dyes will be 2 gold per area dyed, and the vanilla dyes are 2-10 silver per area dyed.

Wow, sorry but that's a terrible change. The chaos black and now the new gryphon black look grey to me, the new one is just darker grey, badab black was the only pure black I saw in the game. If I really wanted to "save" the textures I would already be using chaos black.
Plus it's 5g for each area dyed, 70g for entire outfit, for dark grey seems a bit much.

You probably need to adjust your Gamma settings then. Alternatively, it could be that you're mistaking "shine" on the textures as a "gray" coloration. These lightmaps are precisely the textures that Badab Black destroyed, making characters look like a cell-shaded cartoon. Here are the RGB values of the dyes:

I personally can't tell the difference. I'm sure someone who's not at work right now - perhaps Torque - can post in-game screenshots. But having all the RGB values set to 0 prevents lightmaps from showing.

There was already an option in chaos black for people that wanted to see the textures, now you've given players a darker option to chaos black while taking away the one option for a pure black color, which I'm sure there are others that wanted that as well. Some of the textures aren't the greatest particularly on cloth robes, and sometimes putting that black on hides some of the imperfections that show up on lighter colors.

I have noticed the staff fixing many things, and I appreciate you guys doing that work and keeping this server up for free. Just don't think this was one of the things that really needed to be fixed by completely taking it out.
