Hey so I just found out about this private server about 5 minutes ago haha. I am downloading it atm and so excited. I think about this game every once in awhile and such. Anyway I wanted to know, how is the private server? community? also what faction do you guys recommend me join?

I just realized this is EU.. can I play as NA or will my ping be awful?

We have plenty of NA players, myself included. The ping isn't so bad - if anything, the biggest gripe is the lack of players during NA primetime, but that's exactly why we need more NA players.

New Jersey player here. And I have plenty of friends playing from California.

At least ONE person I know who plays from Japan.

Personally, I have no issue with Lag, and if you do you will adjust to it in time.

Welcome back to the game. North American times are slower, but scenarios are still active and sometimes the RvR gets fun. The community is helpful. Playing from Boston here and lag isn't too bad. But you can always use the golden rule for lag concern, when in doubt, play ranged DPS.
