Re: GM's hate him! Community "troll" exposes abuse

Github has already dealt with the part of the post addressing him, so I'll skip that.

I can't talk for other members of staff not addressing PMs, but the risk of being accused of this - and being unable to efficiently defend against an accusation of making no reply - is why I've pushed for transparency. I'm sure you won't believe it, but back when I first met SigmarPriest in early 2015 I was already pushing for a public ban and appeal forum. Sadly, the server had not reached the stage where he felt such a thing was necessary. I talk of transparency protecting GMs as much as players for this reason.

If a topic gets locked, it means there's nothing more to address on the subject. A thread asking about a ban duration, like many other threads on the forum, is vulnerable to shitposting, so if a GM locks after their answer it means one of two things:

1) QAQATL
2) The player in question knows the information already and is causing trouble

Needless to say, appeal posts get locked immediately UNLESS I see there is something of potential value in the topic, which is why, as you mentioned earlier, members of the community get to post about certain aspects of GM behaviour and staff procedure, and not others. This staff relies on community pressure as a prime mover when it comes to policy change, so if my only choice for progress is to selectively enforce the rules for the sake of reaching a more transparent state in which we can avoid situations like this, you can be very sure that I will do so, because my hand is forced.

Regarding quoting me out of context: Sorry, but that's laughable. Almost anything you can find in 3500 posts will be justified in context. I follow the simple principle of appearing human on the boards, and I do not put up any kind of professional barrier. This is deliberate. So if people expect anything but a sharp response to their being stupid from me, when such a response is all that needs to be said, then they don't know me very well, and I won't apologise for that.

Regarding never receiving a message: The messages I left for both your accounts were included in the exile. When attempting to chat, pm, etc from the exile zone, you receive a GM message stating the duration of the exile and the reason for it. I can't prove that you read it, but if precedent is anything to go by (see: lying about Github), I'd wager you saw it and are relying upon plausible deniability, because you appealed the ban. That's fine. It just means we have to include a mailer to make sure there is absolutely no excuse.

Balance complaints in a staff conduct topic... skip skip skip. All I'll say on that is that I don't agree with AM and Shaman dominance in 1on1, but I don't have the power to efficiently adjust that yet as it's a combination of many factors. Also, more Order bias.

Regarding the WL kick: Yep, I wouldn't have kicked for that. Warning first, because it can happen accidentally.

So, what did we really learn here? We learned that enforcement can be inconsistent, and we learned that a transparency initiative which we are already implementing, and have received no credit from you for, would be of benefit for dealing with future issues of this type. I see nothing here which is remotely close to discrediting any of us as being on a "power trip".

It would really help if you didn't post stupid comments like that. I'm aware your guild feels like you're persecuted. I can assure you we, the staff in general, do not care enough about you to persecute you. You've done nothing to us that would cause us to take the risk of abusing power just to attack you. Yet another reason we need transparency, as I'm sure that temp ban on Phantomdrake was misrepresented nicely.

Now that I think about it, I'll move that one to the public forum.

@Euan
Exactly as Gachimuchi said, Aza probably knew you would embarass yourself.
The whole thing almost looks like written by our beloved puglord (no names :P ). Displaying yourself and people you defend as victims plus blaming authorities, this OP post had it all.
Don't forget the burden of proof fallacy this post is literally DRIVEN by! :D

i don't expect a "level of professionalism" from the devs doing this for free
i don't even expect the game or the server. i'm just happy to receive it
the internet is very entitled these days

I managed to wade through the OP, and despite the tears of sadness obscuring my vision I also read the rest of the thread.

If I was you, OP, I'd ask for a refund or maybe a couple of free month's play. Perhaps the GM's / Mod's could also be docked wages for doing such terrible things...

Oh wait, you paid nothing, and they get paid nothing.

My bad

Oh. I can't tell you mate, no idea :(.
Thats true.
Have no idea why a player is banned . I don't know his name, i don't know the motive, the duration, i know nothing. Call me John Snow about that.

No offense, but fact is i'm not a GM, and have no idea on the what, the why and the How about this. Like GM's haven't a precise idea about what Devs are doing ( i would bet on ugly things), DB staff about what i'm doing ( not so much atm), etcetc...

Well asking to the wrong person leads in the better way to a polite " i don't know". :(

Yali.

completely off topic (or at least i think it is.. not sure what the actual topic is tbh) but the signature image looks great. Beginning to wonder if a lot of you are using some app or program to create them.
Always hopeful of finding a DPS AM guild.. if anyone ever sees one, with low entrance standards, please let me know..

If you wish to discuss your ban, contact a member of staff privately on the forum.
Do not make a public thread about it.

He said he would ask around about what I did and get back to me, I never heard back about it
Yeah, you totally never heard back from me, ever.
Spoiler:

I cannot reverse the ban, because the person who applied it is technically higher than me. I have asked about it however, and am awaiting a response. I will let you know as soon as anything comes.

I tried, but it's applied by somebody higher than me and unfortunately I can't reverse the ban. You still have to wait 3 days, sorry man.

Also, anyone who knows me and plays is aware I would never call all of Destro retarded, and I'd like you to provide some proof on that - and no, this isn't a case of a GM asking you to provide proof but not giving it themselves - you jut slandered me, twice, while being wrong. And I even told you in-game that I do not agree with your ban necessarily, but there's nothing I can do about it.
Bacta wrote: Each GM is different and has a totally different way of dealing with things. Punishments seem to be very inconsistent as of late. This isn't the first time I've heard of that particular GM kicking people off the server.
This is one thing I will agree on. It's actually being discussed internally due to recent events with Mavella, to ensure this does not happen again.
Yes, I had to Pm you again because I got no reply from you and then when I did you didn't really provide anything other than telling me I'm still banned. I did appreciate you replying but it wasn't really useful.

I remember perfectly when you told the whole Destro they were retarded and it actually was two instances in /advice and I even pm'd you about it. The first was when you had to restart the server and it actually was needed but it was the first time in a while Destro was winning ORvR in T2. The second was when the gold exploit from Order surfaced and I said incoming item reset on /advice this time you only said some people which was more directed at me. I PM'd you telling you that I got banned for saying retarded, and jokingly said reported. You let me know you would never ban someone else for saying that. I told you I wasn't really serious and I would never do that to you. You were mad because Order had exploited and you guys didn't really want to deal with it. Hopefully someone remember and can attest to this.

I actually don't dislike you, and I really don't think what you said was really out of line. I'm merely comparing the actions of staff to myself.
Is this a shitpost? Let me know through personal message.
