Re: MAC SUPPORT?

Hey there!

I just found this server and I must say I'm super excited as an old WAR veteran! Since those times I have started to use Mac so I'm having the same problems as everyone else here... I tried Wineskin with all the information that I gathered from these forums but couldn't get it to work.

So now I'm asking: Did someone get this working with Wineskin? If so, how? If not, is there any improvement on porting the laucher for Mac?

Yours,

the farthest i got with wineskin was using a custom built wine staging engine, with a couple of wine tricks (comctl32ocx comctl32 comdlg32ocx msxml3) and a manually installed dot net 4.0 and directX (wine config win version set to windows 7).

but even so, the game launches with no problems, gets to the character screen, but that's it...

if i try to create a new character it freezes as soon as the sorc head gets into view (when the game zooms in to show the several archetypes), and if i try to start a game with a previously created character, it freezes as soon as the loading screen ends :/

Also tried with a stable (non-staging) version and managed to get in the game world, but as soon as i rotated the camera, it crashed.

I'm getting out of ideas here. been trying to make it run for the better part of the last two weeks and nothing... how about someone patching the needed files and make them read the user and password from a config file or something, so it doesn't need a launcher? that way the old mac client can be used (we'd just have to replace the files contained in the .app bundle with the patched ones and the config file) and all of this mess would just go away :)

just a thought...

anyway, cheers from an old Karak-Norn choppa, and congrats on the server :)

Can you try something for me? Go to the game's user settings in OS X -> video -> performance level -> customise, and set texture cache memory to default.

I haven't worked on getting it to work in OS X for about a week now, but you actually got further than I did ;)

Maybe try Crossover for Mac with the Win-Client?

Was working for me with SWTOR, so....

People are free to try that, we (the team) are looking for a solution that won't cost any money though ;)

Texture memory cache is set to default. Actually, the slider is disabled and set to default. It won't let me change it and the tooltip says "you cannot adjust this setting" :p

When I get to the office I'll upload my prefix (with the game files removed from it, so it won't be a 12 gig bundle) and I'll PM you a link to it and a more detailed list of all the configs and settings I used when creating it. Maybe you can figure out the last step that I'm missing :p

Cheers

I just remembered something...

I can actually get into the game world using the custom built wine engine, but only on my early 2010 MacBook Pro. It crashes when rotating the camera.

The behaviour I described earlier (crashing when creating a character and crashing when the loading ends, just before entering the game world) is what happens with that exact same .app on my early 2015 MacBook Pro...
