Just a note, the source for Searing Touch is this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... MaWg#t=151 which shows 3 hits. Unless Searing Touch changed between 1.4.0 and 1.4.8, it should be 3 hits.

I humbly stand corrected reguarding the timing of the ticks, my memory seems to have failed me. I will edit my previous post.

However, my point about beeing able to get the first tick to fire while moving still stands. It's done several times in this clip(not me playing):

The first tick of Searing Touch was at 0. On activation and could be used while moving. This first tick did have a very slight travel time as did radiant lance while fury of asuryan and balance essence had no travel time. Cleansing flare also had a travel time even though the effect was instant the knock back and damage was slightly after the effect animation starts.

You can tell what abilities have a travel time as they usually have some kind of projectile animation while instant effect abilities have the cast animations and target effect animation with no projectile. The Archmage and Shaman have very slight travel times compared to the longer travel time on the Sorc/BW projectile spells, except pyro surge which also had this shorter travel time, and the 2 bow classes slower arcing projectiles.

I guess the travel time is where the confusion about ticks is from. The 3 ticks were at 0, 3, 6. the last tick right at the end of the 6s channel. As the games gcd was 1.5 seconds that was a tick every 2 gcds. This did allow ST to be used while kiting.

Are you sure with 3 ticks? The damage was equal with radiant lance, so the only advantage would be lower AP costs while being unable to move and doing less dps during the channel cast. This makes no sense. I remember it differently.

Here is a video without too many dots on target to be less confusing.

The target dies 1 sec before the channel ends at second 5 with 1 tick left at second 6. You see the equal damage to radiant lance and you see 3 ticks done and 1 still missing.

To have the same damage value, the cast time for between each cast/tick has to be the same, this is why it is 2 seconds and not 3. Furthermore remember that the damage numbers have a slight delay when appearing.

During this video you see at least one more fight, did not watched the whole vid, with 1 tick and 3 disrupts on searing touch, with dot ticks in between.

hey tel good to see you around :D

not only searing touch, dok/wp meccanic rec also should have first tick on 0 and check position after 1sec, i think most things in game work that way.
About ST ticks it could have a 4 ticks 1 every 2 seconds: 0,2,4,6 or 1 every 3 seconds : 0,3,6 i see not a big issue just choose 1 the first way have lesser chance to crit but better crit damage, viceversa the second.

The advantages of ST over RL were the 4th tick at the beginning and the lower AP cost, besides that the dps was the same.
The disadvantages were the immobility, the inability to cast anything else between casts because of channel type and no possible cast time reduction like M2 with 50% less cast time.

In all other aspects, both spell were the same.
Dying is no option.

I have one question: which class can defeat Maurauder one on one now?
In scenario maurauder have 20:0 or 40:0 they have not damage or 10-15 from 250.
I think that would be very much maurauders now. :)
