How to play a Magus

Hello everyone !

I wanna make a lil guide about the class magus .
I dont make a guide for rift magus cause there is a good one !

First of all Welcome to all magus players out there who have fun to play the class .

1. WY Playin a Magus
-u will look rly nice and u can damnit fly on a disc WTF A DISC
-u wanna deal magic dmg but dont wanna play a sorc
-u love to play with pets
-u love to play alone
-u love to play in groups ;D
-u wanna be a caster that can be change an sc solo

Path of changing :
With path of changing u can deal a nice ammount of Fluff dmg but u also can to nice single target dmg .
First the build : http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mag ... :5100:5101:
For that spec u need RR 40 and a set with +1 to havock or +1 to changing
Its the nearly standart build for dat tree

Cast rotation :
First of all youre bred and butter Pandemonium+Glean magic cast it everytime together !!!
So u have to choice what u wanna do
if u just want to creat fluff dmg there is no rly rotation just spam dots and dissolving mist and deamonic infestion :D
But if un wanna play effektiv play like that :
Put dissolving mist just into the back line to the healers that they move to another place or get dmg (btw with good int it will crit 500-700 at last stage .
Than pik one target that u wanna kill and do like these
Pandemonium+glean magic , withered soul , baleful mogri . ThAN u cans tart youre dmg with
Bolt of change , surge of insinity + indigo fire of change (or spamm rend winds after that together with surging vioilet fire .

Bolt of change will hit with surge of insinity + indigo fire (or rend winds) at the same time and can create a lot of dmg
like 2k+800+1.2k (At my gear) if some dot is dmg at the same time and they are not cleansed u can do nearly 5k instant dmg what is rly rly nice .

What to do if meele got u :
Against the most classes just use warping blast and go away BUT
against WL or slayer use instability and hope ;D
after that use glean magic and spamm rend winds and hope that they die or try to come to a safe zone :D

Wich pet : Just use Pink horror , no flamer.... Pink horror massiv more effectiv if u wanna focus down ppl )

Whats more to say play and enjoy dat class .
When iam at home i post some screen and vids how to play magus .
If there are some more things to say plz say it i will change it ;:D

I would say thats how you play glass cannon magus.
There is an alternative however, which people often overlook.

Magus does NOT have to be a free WH or WL Kill or a free meal in general.
If you go full demonology with rift, aegis of fire and beef it up with Devour energy/Demonic Pact and then add Close quarters you won't even matte what second tree you' dump the execess points into.
If you go full toughness talismans on your gear/ toughness RR tactics and then intel or crit i can Guarantee you will win ANY 1v1 vs ANY career or you will be able to take numerous targets while being ridiculously hard to kill.
What about intel or hard crit for damage you might ask?
Don't even worry about it - you'l be sitting at around 650-700 intel at least with a normal pvp set on so anything more is unnecessary.
My magus sits at 650 intel and 700 toughness with about 50% amor after pots and self amor buff.
All you literally have to do is drop your main rotation of dots - Infernal blast, pandemonium baleful transgression, withered soul and then just spam Rend winds and you will do so much ridiculously stupid rapid CONSISTENT burst because of close quarters. 80% of the time you won't even need to use your self heal of aegis to keep you up but because its a 2.5k + self heal you will outlast anybody.
This isn't just a survival 1v1 build either, you go roaming as a 2 or solo and run into a non healer group, your so tanky you will usually be able to take 1-2 with you in 3v1s +
The close quarters rend winds + dot combo works efficiently with healers too as its generally too fast for them to outheal.
And lets be honest - whats better then /laughing and /spiting on those WH corspes that jump you thinking your glass cannon magi only for them to have you negating 80% of there main burst, doing the knock back and starting up the dot/rend train. Priceless

Y we all know that but like i sad there is a nice how to rift guide
*edit* with dat (glass cannon build what u mean ) u never will loose against a wh 1on1 :D too )
iam at 1000 int 480 toughness at 2.1k amor with 7.5k life u arent that squishy glass cannon .
And if u have full merc set+sc weapon u can change ap tak to absorb and u are rly beefy

And its a rly nice 1on1 build what u explain there . rly nice for soloing

And there are many alternatives to play a magus . but the most ppl u see are running changing but playin it rly rly not nice thats wy i wrote it .

U can play like http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mag ... :;;0:0:0:0: that too ( with ruin or anhi set)

*cant stop to edit* :D And with my build the rend winds makes more dmg so u can dot rend winds aswell .
and its rly not a glass cannon build the diffrent from youre to mine build are 100 toghness nothing else . the rest is a part of eqip

you need surging power tactic in order to get big crits with soi/svf.
you should also take the havoc crit over the changing crit as your two most important nukes (boc and svf) dependent on critting

surging power is a must in my opinion for maximum burst. your build/tips are good, but always cast surge of insanity right after bolt of change and make it coincide with SVF for max burst (soi with crit tactic should hit harder than IFOC)

Nah if better than boc+soi+svf is Boc+soi+ifoc = more dmg

the idea is to time each of the abilities to hit at EXACTLY the same time. you absolutely need surge of power if you want to cause some proper single target pressure; it's a mandatory tactic for st-based magi.
once you have enough crit, surge of insanity - with surging power tactic and on a target spirit debuffed - will deal more damage than a tick of indigo fire.

bolt of change will be in the air for up to 2 seconds before it hits the target, this gives you time to cast a surge of insanity which you will aim to coincide with BOC landing on a target.
you will then use SVF as soon as you are finished casting SOI.

all three of these abilities will have hit in the same timestamp (within a second of eachother). if the target is not finished, you will then cast indigo.

i spent a lot of time on live practicing the best burst rotations and this was the result. just giving my feedback. anyway i've offered my 2 c, keep up the good work :)

y what i sad bolt of change + surge +indigo fire of change there is surge ? dat taktic makes a diffrent from 200-300 dmg
but if u use idoc instead of vioelt u got these dmg easy

all three do the dmg at the same time and idoc makes more than violet fire

edit
Ah now i understand what u mean y sure but there need the taktik but i change to it if i have my +10 ap stuff per sec
u are right
