I would have asked this in the [Chosen] Best path for a tank thread, but I don't want to catch a cold for performing necromancy.
Anyway, I was recently given some advice--from someone I don't think was trying to troll me--that my ~76% physical mitigation from armor needed to be up in the 110% area. The only reason I could think of off-hand is that I'd still be near the 75% cap after armor penetration. But melee dps shouldn't be focusing on me anyway, so I'm wondering if that mitigation applies to the incoming damage I take from guard. So I guess my question is: Does that 110% goal make sense?
I'm imagining a considerable expense in armor talismans, so I'd like a comprehensive/mathy explanation before I resign myself to scraping together that much gold.
I'm at 4/5 ruin as of this writing, if that aids in anyone's attempt at an explanation.
My follow-up question is: What should my stats be looking like if my goal is to be a primarily scenario-oriented guard-bot?
Wounds? Toughness? Spirit/Corp/Ele?
Depending on what numbers get tossed around, I'm wondering if hitting all those numbers is even possible.

Re: [Chosen] Scenario Tank Stat Goals?
a lot of tanks (me included) get up to over 100% phys mitigation to have 100% even after an armor debuff
ofc if you wanna go for more DPS you should probably not slot armor talis
i recommend you try and see how it feels to you, if your survivability is still good enough without armor talis you can slot something else
you really feel the difference though

Re: [Chosen] Scenario Tank Stat Goals?
What I do is gear swaps/tactic slot swaps before the sc begins.
Have a set of gear geared towards physical mitigation. Switch to tactics that benefit to mitigating physical damage.
Have a set of gear geared towards high disrupt chance. Switch to tactics that benefit to mitigating magic damage.
When you enter a SC LOOK at the opposition and look at the high dps classes. You have 30 to 20 sec's prior to the sc beginning to adjust to your situation. If the enemy brought 5 BW your armor mitigation is worthless. If the opposition brought 5 Slayers your disrupt gear is worthless.
In addition your own group composition matters. Luckily as a chosen you can switch aura's quickly to benefit to your group composition. Running str/tough/resist is good if your the only chosen. If not you should switch aura's dependant on what the other pug chosen is running. If you have too many chosens in your pug run Agony aura.
If your running in a consistent premade again you gear differently dependant on group composition. Zealots can buff your armor by 1000 armor points through a tactic.
Collect multiple gear sets with this in mind. Create multiple tactic swaps with this in mind. Always carry a shield even if your dread spec. Just incase you should swap to a shield if the situation calls for it.

Re: [Chosen] Scenario Tank Stat Goals?
4700 armour rating will give you 75% phys mitigation once you get the strongest armour debuff in-game, but you won't be getting focussed much. A few armour+toughness should make you tanky enough, while speccing renown into parry and then block. 2pc ruin will help you push your armour rating high.
Re: [Chosen] Scenario Tank Stat Goals?
I too am looking for some info.
Recently back on board with my Chosen, not sure how to spec or stat right now.
running the full ruin set, the 3 set wind ring set (armor and initiative), using the skaven ring with 2 % crit reduction, cape with 1 % reduction. and some old inf reward belt with 1 % crit (I have no idea what to replace it with lol).
For now I am just Solo queueing and running random RvR, Sword and Board, with eh epic shield that gives absorb, and random 2% disrupt blue lvl 35 sword.

go ruin .
slot all armour u can get , few thoughnes talis . up ur block as much as u can , in general chosen parry is very high thanks to supression, block is harder to come and more useful. get resoluset defense a must have . jugegrnaut ttactic, rooted tank cannot push or guard .

Re: [Chosen] Scenario Tank Stat Goals?
Are you solo tanking?
So for a chosen you have a lot to play around with, you are one of the best guarders because you can have phenomenally high block and parry (Mixed defences, suppression etc), As a guard bot you want that block to trigger to get you closer to M4 (DFV). if you get punted away or your back lines are hit you need Immac on the go.
I wouldn't slot armour talismens, I would slot a mix of toughness and strength. In a premade 500 toughness is the sweetspot, if you are solo tanking/ Zergbusting 700 toughness is where you want to be.
Now you ask why Strength?, Strength is really important to allow your CC to trigger, if you have 200 Strength all of your attacks will be parried. 400-500 Strength is a nice spot to be for consistent landings of abilities. I wouldn't spend any RR on either Strength or Toughness.
10 in block, 10 in DD, 10 -20 in parry depending if you want RD or not. I don't use it, but I would suggest it if you are a solo tank.
If you plan on making your tank your main focus: have multiple armour set-ups. Much like Iron man, I have a suit of armour for each specific role, and will change pending the situation.

Re: [Chosen] Scenario Tank Stat Goals?
for now solo/rvr. I doubt I will find any groups worth running with for a 6 man for my time slot.
Basically just a guard/CC/Knockdown/repel bot right now.
