Re: Is it possible to improve textures?
it still looks very good for its time, and i'd say it looks just fine today, of course not good today, and not great, but it looks fine
would love better graphics though, would be neat

Re: Is it possible to improve textures?
I tried Sildur's mod today. I think it looks pretty good, but there is nothing you can do to increase quality of the textures in this game aside from AF.
It would be amazing to see some sort of HD textures pack introduced, similar to the JB3textures mod that came out for the original Dragon Age. Not sure how feasible that is as I'm not a developer, I'd imagine it would be a ton of work. However I'm game for Q&A if anyone were interested. Really the most noticeably aged textures are terrain based. In my opinion a lot of the armor textures and structures are holding up quite well.

Re: Is it possible to improve textures?
Just to give you and idea: The client contains about 51 thousand texture (dds) files.
There might still be some more that use different file formats.

I'm guessing there's no easy way to filter that down to just terrain type textures? Point taken.

I don't know much about retexturing but is it impossible to remake the Ground texture for instance in HD and replace the old ground file with it?saupreusse wrote:Just to give you and idea: The client contains about 51 thousand texture (dds) files.

Re: Is it possible to improve textures?
its not impossible no. but to be honest, without a full (lets call it total conversion) it would just end up looking out of place if you get me. i guess what im trying to say is if you didnt chagne every single texture in the game then chaging one section of ground would just look strange.I don't know much about retexturing but is it impossible to remake the Ground texture for instance in HD and replace the old ground file with it?
also just grabbing the old texture and up-scaling it woudl make it look worse and more blury.
no bull ****, i do this for a living.

You must be very careful when you change them. you dont want to destroy the setting with a ultra HD ground texture next to the standard "fantasy" textures.Markosiz wrote:its not impossible no. but to be honest, without a full (lets call it total conversion) it would just end up looking out of place if you get me. i guess what im trying to say is if you didnt chagne every single texture in the game then chaging one section of ground would just look strange.I don't know much about retexturing but is it impossible to remake the Ground texture for instance in HD and replace the old ground file with it?

But yes, I believe some textures will indeed be changed. (like lava - my gosh it looks ugly)

Re: Is it possible to improve textures?
I will admit to knowing nothing when it comes to Warhammer files and modding, but back in my old days of FFXI there was a way to force the background resolution higher than what the client allowed, making the game look better. You'd have to edit the Registry keys for it, but it really helped.
Is there a way to do something similar here in Warhammer?
There was also the use of Draw Distance through Windower (the game did not allow you to do windowed mode naturally, so it was a third party program to allow you to play windowed/able to alt tab without crashing.) Draw Distance made more of the distant terrain visible. This + the Registry edit made it look pretty good for a game of its time.
