Fresh meat with many questions coming

Hi! I had always wanted to try Age of Reckoning when it was live, but suddenly it died :( But now it is alive again! So I joined that community wanting to unleash some WAAAAAAAAAAAGHH! The thing is I don´t know what I should aim for in Warhammer. I don´t know what are tiers here ( I heard things about T1,T2,T3 and T4 in each faction) I heard you can lvl in PvP since start and that this game is more PvP oriented than PvE so I don´t know if the best thing would be doing quests or try PvP . So being PvP oriented, is here any endgame or the thing is help your faction?

Welcome to our community.
Tiers are level groupings to keep the playing field on more even footing.
-T1 is levels 1-11
-T2 is levels 12-21
-T3 is levels 22-32
-T4 is 32-40, which is max level.

You can level in PvP, or PvE, I personally find that leveling is faster for me in PvE, as I play in California, and the majority of the server seems to be located in Europe.

There is endgame, no raids, but alongside your character rank/level, you have renown ranks, they go from 1-80. As you gain a renown rank, you get a renown point, these are spent to increase stats, or various attributes on your character.

There are many others on these boards that are far more knowledgeable than I am, but I hope to see you in game!

I prefer leveling in PvP as you don't get behind in Renown and have to play catch-up. Strange though, as I'm also in Cali and have no problems finding either Open RvR (ORvR) or Scenarios (numbers somewhat matched, instanced PvP).

T1 RvR is often haphazard and people do whatever they seem to want to do, but seems a bit more evenly matched because you can't really get good gear until you're almost out of the tier. T2 is a bit more organized, but still many people learning so far from ordered. By T3 you really should know how to utilize your character class and people count on you to play that class appropriately as groups seem to be better organized, although it's still sort of do what you want. T4 is definitely endgame at this point, with more organized warbands, as well as more expectation that you are capable of playing your class and that you will follow instruction, although still with PUGs (pick up groups) there is plenty of disorganization and lack of order.

I'd suggest you pick a realm and class you want to play, play it until level 10 or 11 in T1, in the RvR lake, in Scenarios, and in PvE doing some quests then decide if you like the class. While many classes start to shine later in their levels, you should at least be able to determine an archetype you want to play, be it healer, tank, ranged dps, or melee dps, and can narrow down from there if you want to change to a different class within that archetype or switch to a completely different archetype; or even the other realm.

I recently rolled a new Archmage and leveled not only to T2, but had full renown, influence, and gear within about 2 hours of playtime, which is why I suggest playing at least to lvl 10/11. The time commitment to a character is fairly low, and if you hate it you should know by level 10/11. If you aren't sure, keep leveling and maybe roll another class you also think you'd like so you can play it in T1 while playing the original in T2. Many may suggest picking a class and sticking with it, and if you know the classes (many of us played on Live and already leveled all our characters to 40), that is certainly a good recommendation. However, coming into this game with little character playtime I suggest trying them out and finding what you really like to play. You can always delete it later, or pick it back up if you are bored or if the action picks up in the tier that character is presently playing in.

Once you've decided on a class you like, find and join a guild. Most use some type of voice communication application such as Ventrilo or TeamSpeak, and the members can offer a ton of advice on how to maximize you class, your play time, and offer hints and suggestions as well as providing you groups to join for more overall fun and perhaps assistance with leveling, gear, etc. You don't need to wait until level 10/11 to join a guild, I merely suggest you determine a class and stick with it so your guild doesn't have a bunch of lowbies running around that you no longer care to play.

If you don't like your class or guild, figure out what you don't like and try another one. Courteously inform your Guild Leader why you aren't happy and leave things pleasant with the guild. You may find you want to come back later if that guild's style later becomes something you start to enjoy.

Check into trade skills early on. You have a choice of 1 gathering skill and 1 crafting skill, pick ones that compliment each other and start leveling them if crafting is ever something you may be interested in. For some, like me, I craft/gather on every character so I can be self-sufficient with making potions, talismans (stat boosts for your gear), and helping my guild mates when they need stuff. Its also a good way to generate income in-game as some folks just don't care to gather or craft, and will purchase your materials or crafted items from the Auction House.

Understand this game is in Alpha, and as such there are still little bugs and such that are yet to be worked out. That said, it's great fun as long as you don't take things too seriously if a quest is borked or you get disconnected during a battle; stuff happens, and the folks running the server and game are doing it for free so appreciate them and be respectful and you should do fine.

Finally, have fun.

Wow thanks for your responses guys, that was faster than I expected. I was trying to enter the game to try things but everytime I press in connect it just does nothing. Also, if I understand it fine I can go to RvR by open world or queuing just like in WoW right? When is the best moment of the day to play? (Talking about Europe, like in the morning, evening, etc)

PS: This server is still on Alpha? awesome, it gives just so much room to improve. I hope this server keeps growing and improving

Yeah, the server is down at the moment, it should be up again soon. There are scenarios, which are similar to battlegrounds in WOW, and then there's ORvR, which is open warfare in a certain area of the map. There are battlefield objectives to control, and in later tiers, keeps to take over/defend.
