What i meant with the wipe is that ppl wont have a **** ton of gold stacked up from farming in alpha so they can buy all cheap stuff on AH and put it back for 300% increased price

So only a AH and gold wipe would be necessary? Sounds weird

Gold and AH wipe not necessary atm, i was talking about release. Atm to solve AH prices they need to make ppl avaible to get gear in otherways such as PQ, drops from enemy players etc as stated earlier.

Ps. For the record this is no critizism of dev team (Awesome job guys! :D) just talking in general.

Gold and AH wipe might do some unnecessary damage. No one want to loose the stuff they grinded for so long. So people can rage quit.

And look at the AH this way: right now there are very few players, so the demand for those items is quite low. Of course everyone want to have best gear. Also the supply is low, because you need (statisticaly) 1000 kills to get one item (which in reality is not always accurate). So those few, who actually care about killing those 1000 mobs to get one item will still put high prices, even, if it's impossible for others to pay it.

It's like with jewelry: not many people produce it and it costs to produce it, so they want higher price than bakers, who have easy access to ingridients and there are so many of them + baking bread requires less effort.

I guess you just have to bear with the prices and wait for higher tiers, where the cloaks from t1 will be useless.

Edit: Auctions in games are really nice to observe. They show in a great way how demand and supply can shape the prices of goods. For example cloth in WoW. Lower level cloth should be cheaper, but since not many people want to farm it, is sometimes more expansive then the highest level cloth. It's simply because some people choose to take trade skills when they have max level and are willing to pay lower level people, how just happen to get the drop while leveling :)

It's actually 10,000 kills on average if you're trying to farm a particular item, which is another problem with the current system - it relies on averages and trading to work. Even if you can find a mob which drops a piece of gear which isn't on the main farm mob(s) for your faction, chances are only you will be farming it, meaning 10,000 kills on average are required to get that drop.

This is also why cloaks are so rare. Each mob drops 2 cloaks on average, which realistically will supply only one or two classes.

Right, I forgot there was one 0 after the comma in the percenteges :P
So 10,000 kills it is :)
