WoW pvp is really dumb right now. Haven't played in a while, but I was interested in their decision to make separate talent trees for PvE and PvP, since I thought they'd actually make S&B classes useful.

Turns out that not only was I wrong about that, the lead developer has publicly stated "When tanks are having fun, no one else is." They are willfully stupid about it and actively alienating a sizable portion of their rapidly dwindling player base. That game deserves to die in the worst way.

It's a bit silly to wish ill unto a game that has been as successful and long-lived as WoW. PvP imo looks promising for Legion, which is why I'm coming back (the whole talent thing seems interesting)
but yeah, for sure the golden age for WoW pvp (wotlk) has long passed.

True is, that WHO:AoR and now WHO:RoR has never been beaten in terms of mass pvp combat in RvR campaign. I have tried GW II, ESO and others, but Warhammer is Warhammer. Now when I am fresh proud father of our son, I have minimum time to play, but I check RoR page nearly every day to see if there is any progres. When I have some time to play, I play Grim dawn(ARPG) which I think is the best arpg game since Diablo 2: LoD.

I will disagree with you here. DAOC had much better mass pvp combat. WAR is second to that game still. I have pvp'ed in ESO (the targeting and pvp felt very soft and vague) SWTOR (bleh pvp), WOW (the instances were fun. Arena started out that way, but devolved into high lvl teams selling their team and restarting thus ruining balance at the bottom and mid-tier, plus the class designs were so unbalanced for the arenas that you stood little chance without using a very strict class/tree structure for your arena team) GW2 (just not that fun, maybe I didn't give it a good shot), Rift (I actually enjoyed Rift a lot, and if you got in a good pvp raid, it was a lot of fun, but the game grew stale.)

I am playing a little Uthgard now (DAOC free-shard) while I wait for ROR to come back, and beyond that, CU Beta.

GW2 is kinda **** atm cuz of the meta builds u HAVE to use if you really want to compete.
On release it was a super fun game cuz of all the build diversity and the different matchmaking + leaderboards wich still mattered back than.
No clue how they where able to **** it up this bad.

Played GW2 the first 1.5 years and it was awesome. Recently tried getting back into that game (a month before the expansion came out) but uninstalled the game 3 days later. Also wtf farm PvE to get bis armor??

Was talking about sPvP tho.
Dont need PvE gear in sPvP, u can join sPvP at lvl2 and have everything you need from the lobby.

My favourite MMO is real life. No subscription fee and the servers are always quite well populated.

The actual subscription fees were already mentioned,but I also want to point out flaws of the MMO "Real Life"

Farming system is very tiresome

Carreer changes pretty hard

You actually only feel very powerful in the mid levels...endgame content pretty meh, starter levels need apprenticeship
Weather system is very advanced but 50% of time I wish there were no weather system.

Romance system can have drawbacks.

Graphics used to be excelent, but in the last years I get constant blurrs...

Potions and buffs dont work with drawbacks...not mentioning the expensive item shops for these and the availability espeically for starter levels.

Single server,but most act like it is multiple shards.

90% of players of my level range are better in pvp than me.

i've even resorted to warhammer table top to get my WAR fix, it's been pretty expensive but fun to paint, need to find some people to play though.

I enjoy WoW still a little bit, but I do wonder at their design choices some time. They could literally do anything they want with the game at this point: Blizzard has other massive money makers now, and I feel that gives the WoW devs some leeway in making changes that they might not have risked otherwise. They already have a smaller playrbase (bigger than almost any other MMO still out there though, IIRC), so they have less to lose. Stuff like introducing PvP tanking ala WAR would be cool IMO, but I don't think they will ever do it.

WAR is still the best PvP MMO though. Nothing beats it in terms of satisfactory gameplay, or in aesthetics. I play a Death Knight in WoW, and I wish I could make it look and play even half as well as my Chosen or Marauder do. Still, with RoR down, there's not much else out there to play but WoW for me. :p
