I personally think the automation part of NB HAS TO GO. Its pure botting which is not allowed.

Rotations should be possible to have as those does not automate actions with conditionals.
Just my 2 cents.

That's exactly what I would like to see, too. Having the possibility of creating ability rotations without any other extra features. This would remove the "botting" part but still keep the option to minimize the amount of Buttons needed to play Classes with lots of abilities (like IB)

I'm going to perform reductio ad absurdum here to destroy a common argument that people are making, which is:

It's fine because you can use it too!

When you introduce an addon as powerful as Nerfed Buttons, you are changing the depth and rules of the game. You are reducing the execution requirement and in some cases delegating conditionals entirely to an addon. It is directly comparable to, for example, using an addon in Tekken which automatically corrects for input mistakes, and in some cases, chooses the correct move to use based upon conditions that it has analysed for you.

I don't want to play the game under those execution conditions. I should not be punished for playing the game as it was intended to be played by having an execution and keybinding penalty which players abusing NB do not suffer from.

An extreme form of this is arguing that an aimbot is perfectly legitimate in FPS games because "you can use it too!" I can - but it ruins the game for me. The only difference between an aimbot and something like NB is the degree to which it ruins the game. In the case of an aimbot, most people can agree. In the case of NB, it's more subtle.

Addons which display information that the player already has access to in a more convenient format, like Buffhead, I think are vital. They patch up the UI.

Addons that enable additional features or dramatically augment existing ones (like Enemy's assist) should not be permitted.

Addons which reduce the execution / keybind load for playing the game and make decisions for the player should not be permitted.

I would be happy to see the addon API broken entirely, and for addons deemed legitimate to be incorporated directly into the client. Unfortunately, I do not think this is feasible.

Without beeing particularly tech savy it should be possible to achieve similar results as NB with macros on a gaming kb or mouse. At least this was something that was brought up back on live when this was discussed and the argument then was that NB equalized it between people having/affording such hardware and those that did not.

Just checking my own mouse it seems quite simple to set it up so that each keypress always check if the reactionary ability "gutripper" can be use before the "main" ability on that key fires. If this is not possible to detect and punish it seems to me, from a practical point of view, kind of pointless to disable NB.

As a sidenote, the addon package included in enemy has a million times more impact on the game than NB ever will have. Talking about unfair advantages and cheating with NB while using enemy is hypocritical in my opinion.

If this is some kind of vote, I vote for: disable it. All. Inkluding the rotations :)

Such a macro is fine as its a rotation in essence, it cannot directly check for you, what it does is that it tries to use it before and if it cant it will just go for the next ability. If you had errorcasting (like wow has, that you can turn off) you would also get the message stating: "that ability cant be used yet" and then fire off the second ability.

What makes it wrong is when the addon can check for things for you like if you are below a certain health % and similar conditions, and that makes it automated gameplay = botting

I have never used NB. Could you explain what you mean with the above.

I have not used it either but the way I have had it explained to me is that the addon can be set with conditionals so that for example if you hit below 50% hp then it would use a potion for you, hence taking away that realization from yourself, the addon would in that case act for you and you would not need to think about certain things.

Yup. NB can check anything that the addon system can reach. Health percentage and presence / absence of certain buffs on player or target are the most common ones. It can be rigged so that you avoid blowing a CC into an immunity, for example, or avoid doubly applying an effect.

Why would you remove NB Addon? Game can barely get 800 online on prime time. Surely starting removing addons because certain people dont like it is gonna get that population rate up  Imho i would stop playing war if NB was removed from game(Who gives a **** anyway). Some classes really needs it. Like slayer/choppa for example.

Its not just 1 key buttom spam. For example IB/BG got quite alot of skills, and some of us dont have enough keys to be used to fill it out, so we use NB because we dont click.. I am sure you know this.

Time to make topics about addons i want to have removed aswell...
I'm currently playing on a laptop and using a mouse with no extra buttons (except mouse-wheel which isn't assigned to anything), and my only lvl 40 chars atm are IB and BG. It just requires being a bit... creative with your hotkeys.

I'd happily see NB removed. Just as an example of why: after playing for ~4 years on AoR and ~2 years here, I still occasionally try and punt/kd people in the heat of battle when they've got immunity up, even with the clear Buffhead indicators. I don't see why I shouldn't have to pay the price for that mistake (a price which happens to be the highest --wrt tank punts-- on BG).
