Getting my head around salvaging

Hello, another newb question; I have a character without salvaging skill, am I right in thinking I can learn that skill from someone in Tier 2?
Another character created seems to have the skill without learning it, straight from the start... Is it luck of the draw?

You don't have to wait until tier 2 to learn Salvaging or any other skill. You just find the NPCs who teach that skill and click on them. I believe the NPCs that teach salvaging are called Hedge Wizards, if I recall correctly. You can find them in the capital cities, for example for destro they're standing around the apex. They can also be found in various War Camps.

As for the toon that you say has always had this skill, no. What happened there is you clicked on the NPC that taught the skill and therefore your toon now has the skill. That's all that is required, whether you intended to click on him/her or not. This happened to me as well. If you want to unlearn a skill so you can learn a new one, theres a command for that as well.

Hmm, I know there's a hedge wizard at the Grey Lady who trains skills, I'll try him again.

Hedge Wizards are for talis making. NPC should say salvaging or something like that.
(Unless im completely braindead =p)

I believe it is specifically Chapter 2 camps and the Cities. I don't think they're in any other War Camps.

Right, if you want to learn Trade skills you click on the NPCs with yellow subheaders (Hedge Wizard, Salvager, etc., found at Lady Grey Coach House for Order)
To 'unlearn' Trade Skills type
.respec Gathering
or
.respec Crafting
as if you were speaking them.
