Solved - Character dropping from loading to selection screen

Hi there,

First of I would like to say that I know that there are a few other similar threads on this forum. I am writing this as I have been asked to do so by one of the GM's, Nonno, whom I also would like to thank for the help given in trying to resolve this issue.

Second, I did read up on the different possibilities proffered here on the forum, as well as reading the bugtracker, before posting this.

The problem I am currently experiencing is that I cannot load one of my characters, https://www.returnofreckoning.com/armor ... Gottrekson Gottrekson. When trying to do so I only get as far as the loading screen before getting either dropped back to the selection screen, or having the game chrash to desktop.

So far I have tried the various methods proffered here on the forum:
* the double /stuck command issued within 5 seconds, entered once the loading screen appears
* the .u command, entered once the loading screen appears
* the /reloadui command, entered once the loading screen appears
as well as
* trying to clear my active quests trough the method descibed here: https://returnofreckoning.com/forum/vie ... ive#p95047 which basically means to kill the game process in the Task Manger, restart the game, then issue the /reloadui command when the loading screen appears.

Nothing helped. I also have left my guild, as has been mentioned to do on both the forum, as well as in the /advice channel, and by GM Github. This too has been to no avail as well unfortunately.

I was having difficulty logging in with the same character yesterday before the patch was applied, taking about 55 minutes of trying to log in with said character before being able to do so. Since the patch I have been unsuccessfully trying a total of roughly 4 1/2 hours lo log in.

This post is not meant to be a complaint, seeing as I know that I am playing on an alpha state server, playing as a tester. I appreciate all the work the devs, GM's, moderators and all other are putting into this game. I just hope that someone is able to help me to be able to log in with that character again.

I forgot to add that I also have tried to fully uninstall / delete the game, installing it again after a shut-down and restart of the PC. After reinstallation I tried the different steps, see above, again. Unfortunately unsuccessfully.

Ok, I think I finally figured out what went wrong.
Please bear in mind that I can only make, more or less, educated assumptions, as I am not part of the dev, nor support team.

After having tried and tried unsuccessfully to load my character, I tried to figure out if there was a distinct discrepancy between the problematic and the other playable characters. Ultimately this turned out to be the number of active quest I had in the Tome of Knowledge of that char. As far as I am aware that character had something around 13+ pages of active quests, making for something along the lines of 160+ active quests. After that I went on to see whether or not I could get the solution number 4, https://returnofreckoning.com/forum/vie ... ive#p95047, from the original post above to work. I finally was able to do so by applying the solution over and over again, until I finally was able to clear my ToK Quests.

During this multiple, at one point I tried for a "grand" total of 12 times in a row, I was able to notice that it actually helps if your connection is lagging a bit. This due to the black "Loading interface..." screen usually being displayed rather shortly, making it hard to "kill" the client at the right time. For anyone experiencing the same issue and not being able to clear their quests: The timing of when you have to "kill" the client, this is the "WAR.ece" process, not the launcher, is absolutely critical! You have to kill the proces after having clicked play, but before the ToK-style "Loading..." page appears.

I noticed the following though:
Once I had cleared the ToK quests in this way, ALL, and by that I mean the quest having been completed already as well, will, apparently, have the "marker" completd removed. This does, apparently, not effect the rewards gained from quests completed. This also means that any chain quest having been only partially completed will have to be accepted from the starting quest, and not from the last part completed. If, for instance, you are half-way through an epic quest, you will have to start it again from the beginning.
