Massive DCs in keep fights

i wanna know if there is a plan to fix the massive dcs order get when try to take a heavy defended destru keep

i get dc'd often 1 time a minute, so i cant play in keep fights, that makes me sad :-(

i dont know if destru have the same issues but i think so

if you dont know the reason why these disconnects happen, maybe we can gather infos

if you need, just tell us

and excuse my bad english pls :-)

It happens to Destro too.

The problem is with extremely high populations in zones. I don't think the game is currently built to handle more then roughly 4 warbands (96 V 96) on each side fighting in the same zone.

It's extremely doubtful this is an easy fix, as it would require figuring out what is the exact root cause, then figuring out ways to optimize it, and then testing it. It could be found that there is some sort of hard limit due to architecture limts or simply due to the amount of time it would take.

Personally from my developer experience we are probably hitting some architecture limit like the application server hitting 100% CPU use due to the fighting and so it starts dropping connections.

There is also memory leaks within the game itself, which is why I tell people to restart their game client if we are about to start a keep battle. I typically restart my game client once about every 2 hours, otherwise I start laggging.

afaik its a problem with packets that contain a lot of unknown data. maybe one day they will be decoded, but no promises. :^) ask mythic to send us the original code and well be fine. (pls don't)

I was wondering the same myself.

I can fight .. .in a warband or out of a warband just fine for the most part, in the lake, around bo's, outside the keep, inside the walls, inside the first floor, but soon as I start to go up to the keep lord.. boom disconnect. From zerg zerg to 1-2 wbs. Was/Is quite frustrating.

Switch your graphic settings to fastest framerate, it makes a real difference in Keep fights.

Actually, far less of an issue atm. Yea, I DCd like 7 times last night, but each time I reloaded back inside the keep we were defending. Sucks to have to relog, but you don't lose contribution and log back right where you left. Oh, and I'm in NA so I expect it a bit. So...

It'll get fixed as they figure out the problems and are able to access more game mechanics. It's a load ducking better than it was a few months ago, which is insurmountably better than it was last Dec....

Bear in mind that the last stage of a keep attack is the most stressful situation that the client can be subjected to. Lots of players in one place, all attempting to use abilities, most of which are AoE, against themselves and the Lord.

Any issues we have in our packet handling will be exacerbated by this situation.

I honestly think it is something to do with the terrain of the keep + Lord teleporting around.
Perhaps we could in an event test having everyone in one zone fighting in a massive fight to see if mass dc's happen still, or its just laggy but without dc's.

I suspect its the fact that the lord teleports around and use skills in a big number of players all the time until he finally gets "tanked". I've seen massive fights but once the lord goes down steadily and stands still instead of teleporting I don't see as many disconnects. That's just my wild guess anyway.
