A week seems a little excessive... It would be nice if the lockout timer was based around pvp flagging. So someone could theoretically login to check their AH sales, or pass something to a friend/guildy, or use their crafting toon without the risk of being stuck. But I get the theory behind it, and appreciate it is an issue and that any "solution" would be well thought out. I have Faith.

Woot! Since i have no destro, those that do need to start thinking about wut side they might want to be on more often : ).
Which is the point of a lockout timer.

Iirc on the mythic server you had a few minutes (about 1-2?) to check mails etc. until the logout timer kicked in.

But they had more than one active server. We barely go past 800 most of the time- and it's much lower after Euro primetime.

I can understand why you would want to implement a lockout timer, but some of us like playing multiple toons through out the day- or week.
When I get bored of my Magus I jump onto my Shaman or work on my Sorcerer or my Choppa- I that they're all destro but they all have distinct play style- a Shadow Warrior does not play like a Squig Herder and a White Lion does not play like a Marauder...not everyone flips over to the winning side- some of us just like switching careers for a change of pace.

One day is fine- one week is overkill.

My main concern with efforts to police xrealming (and related but more obviously illegal offenses like botting) is that strict measures will harm people who play at home with housemates and/or family members. For example, my girlfriend also plays, and we share an apartment together. Thus, two accounts are logged in from the same IP address. This could easily be construed as "multiple accounts", though any cursory observation of our in-game activity would reveal that it's two people playing the game "as intended", on the same faction (destro).

Please keep cases like mine in mind as you folks work towards a solution. Both of us love this game, and we particularly enjoy playing it together. It would be a rather sad thing if only one of us could continue playing.

One week is fine. Let's do some realm pride finally. Look at the bright point of this, after one week you will miss your other toons so much, it shall be a happy return! ;-)

I almost agree - but wouldn't it also be good to put a curb on the xrealm economy? I really hate it when I see people spamming "wtt order for destro gold" in /4

I would like access to two accounts, just because I want the option of making every toon on a faction side. I doubt you can expand the number of characters available to an account, so having two accounts seems reasonable.

Why not just tie it into the campaign

Once you log in you are stuck on that realm until a city is taken/campaign resets. It would hopefully mean you are invested totally in that realm until the campaign's conclusion.

Wouldn't that also encourage city trading? I imagine it would only take about a week for the playerbase to synchronize their lockouts.
