It seems the same domain stretches back to 2001. Also, this is a neat way to revisit the past. Sharing in case nobody has seen this.

I remember that project. I was REALLY excited about it. Only was going to allow a few "order" races, with far more focus on the RPG aspect, it looked awesome for the time.
Yea, I was a little sad when it died. It had some amazing potential, but I imagine it would of cost an absolute fortune back in 2001...

Already had plans for a Halfling only guild back then.

Although I like the idea of more rpg elements, these guys sure knew how to create an ugly game.
Ty Mythic for pretty stuff, although at the cost of character development.

You can still find some remnants of RPG elements in WAR. Look around the icon files.

Very interesting stuff. It's commonly known that WAR had a protracted development but wow. Still nothing on Duke Nukem though

Re: Warhammer Online from 2001?
I don't think WAR by mythic looked any better pre-alpha and the whole art-design was more targeted on adults rather than children (they only had some basic textures/sounds and animations done).CzarRedwall wrote: these guys sure knew how to create an ugly game.
Mythics major goal was high likely to avoid any content rating higher than PEGI12 and to grab as many WoW customers as possible.

And keep it mind it was around 15 years ago. Diablo 2 cinematics looks the same.Luth wrote:I don't think WAR by mythic looked any better pre-alpha and the whole art-design was more targeted on adults rather than children (they only had some basic textures/sounds and animations done).CzarRedwall wrote: these guys sure knew how to create an ugly game.

I like the direction WAR:AoR went though. Even if the game is lacking in some gameplay areas, it is still a pretty mmo for its time I suppose.
