Stuck on "loading battles..."

Using Parallels desktop/windows 7 on a mac. Login and game launch is silky smooth. Up until loading battles.

I've googled, re-downloaded and let ror/war through the firewall. The file that has been mentioned in a couple of posts can't be downloaded from the link provided. Can't see any recent posts on the matter. What can I do/try?

Try replacing your launcher files with this copy.

Open it with WinRar and put the files into the game folder.

I already tried that and still got the same problem. I installed .net framework, ms visual studio and dx9. I might be missing something maybe?

EDIT: The only way around it I found was to run it through VPN, I'm using freedome.
