Correct. You can use in any stance. The only requirement is that the target must be Ailing.

I do have that macro working, but you're right cause I can't cast SS without casting BHA first which isn't ideal, I do have GA on separate keybind though. Just feels like I have buttons all over the place and need one extra normal key for my main abilities.
Powerful Draw and No Respite+Wrist Slash are not helping each other
you use partial tactics at each stance. PD is for scout/skirmisher IMO.
you will face melee train when you try to use NR+WS.

reducing half hp with skirmish then finishing off with assault is not working well.
enemy either run out of range or lock you in melee with train
so PD skirmisher tend to stay in mid range all time

Well that's primarily the issue with trying to run an Assault SW. Assault is not ideal (dare I say even viable) in the current state of the game. Your damage is outshined by WL, WH in melee, you will be eternally kited, and if you're speccing for melee you lose out on the pretty good tactics from skirmish tree (PD is near essential in my opinion.. 65 feet is deceptively close).

RE: SS hmm now I have to wonder what it was from the Skirmish tree that I always took even though skirmish wasn't my favorite stance.

@dansari Those sound suspiciously like the same complaints I heard in live that drove me to play full Assault heh I mean realistically /any/ SW that gets dogpiled is dead, I don't care what stance you spec for. Half the time not not even the best Skirmisher or Scout can get out of it if the melee zerg decides they're going down. (It happened to me all the damn time in live cause I have a mouth on me heh) I guess I don't consider that necessarily valid criteria.

What I found was that at RR62, regardless of if I had my healer or not, I, at most, lost about 20k damage vs SW's who were using Skirmish or Scout. Most of the time I was pretty damn close to what they were putting out. (Note: That's using only PvP available gear as I didn't do PvE. The only "premade" I ever ran in was with other SW's. I usually PuG'ed SCs/cities or ran solo.) In my experience, a lot of the folks that get high damage in like SCs, are not exactly putting out effective damage. I mean, yea, sure, you can pour your DPS into tanks and come out with high damage, but that doesn't mean you're playing for the team so to speak; lower damage scores that are actually killing healers and rdps are more "effective" in the scope of the SC. If damage is your criteria for viability then I suggest going Skirmish and AoE bombing with LA the whole time - you'll crank out damage /and/ often times you can break the melee train by overloading the healers thus being useful in the grand scope as well.

Still, I cannot confirm nor deny the claim regarding Assault as I never got around to leveling my Sexy Boots on RoR, and quite frankly with Ruthlos and I divorcing I have zero inclination to do so now.

I guess my "final thought" on the matter is one has to decide what they consider as "viable." For example, I never really cared about killing blows in fact I pulled my shots to let others have them because it made them happy. I didn't care about dying "more often" either, and I actually don't think it was /that/ much more often once I got a handle on playing Assault. ~shrug~ I played Assault because it was /way/ more fun than Skirmish or Scout, and for me that made it "viable."

Haha, yeah as I said, play what you want... Who am I to tell you differently? Just stating my opinion on the viability of a melee SW.
