can any kind souls point me to a good talisman making guide?

as the title says, I would like to be able to cheaply level up crafting of talis to put into armor sockets of my characters. I generally don't mind crafting in rpgs at all, but I would like to read up on the most cost efficient way to level up talisman making and where to get cheap or free materials so I don't waste a lot of money (as I cant even afford a 10g horse).

thanks in advance!

Honestly, the last time I lvld tali making, I did it at the same time as scavenging and salvaging. Back before you could scavenge any rank mob(a change I dislike tbh), so I had to lvl everything the "hard way". This was my path:

I took my toon(at the time a 32/40 WP... Yes. I lvled up scavenging on rank 31 Mobs, before I could farm the 39s in Alt...) and I gave it tali making and scavenging.
Then I went to the craft merchant, and lvld up on rank 1 frags till about 25.
Then I farmed mobs. For crafting skills, the key is to divide by 5 to determine Mob rank(Crafting items are in 25 lvl blocks). So, for 25frags you farm rank 5-9 mobs/items(r10 mobs drop 50frags). Scavenge the mobs as you kill them, they will drop the mats you need to make talis, and save the items they drop.
When you have about 40 of these items, return to a mailbox, and send all the items to a toon you gave Magical Salvaging. Salvage the items, mail the mats back to your tali maker. Make a bunch of tali's. You will have to farm some more(especially at the higher ranks), but this should get you damned close.
Move on to the next rank, 50frags, again divide by 5, rank 10-14 mobs(rank15 drops 75frags). Farm until you can rank up again.
Rinse and repeat.

The vast majority of the the talismans you make will be utterly worthless. So save anything good(blues/purples) until you are a higher rank crafter, and can use better mats. By the time you hit 200(cap farming r40+ mobs), you should A, have a stack of blues and purples to turn into talis for your own gear and to sell, B, have earned a decent chunk of change from selling dyes/junk the mobs dropped, and C, shouldn't take more than 2 hrs.

Doing it this way, will enable you to have a capped magical salvager, scavenger, and talisman maker. Salvaging/scavenging provide all of the mats required for tali making, and enables you to farm up purple frags/items and make a lot of profit from selling them. Just make sure you choose a toon that can farm mobs easily.

For the Highest lvl talis, you can farm the 200 dust and 200 curios from r40 mobs, the only way to get 200 magical essence atm is via salvaging inf gear, anni chest/shoulders, (I believe, haven't verified) conq gear, and Subjugator items(probably forgetting something) You can get 175 magical essence from salvaging loot rank 35-39.

Check the AH before you make a sale. Don't always dump them for the lowest price. Check to see how many are even for sale, and how much you think your time was worth.

I'm 96.7% certain you can't get 200 essences from anni shoulders/helm/chest anymore. Devs changed it when the decrease in price was changed. That's the only way you can make +23s, right Dab?
