Just wish more people loved that kinda brawling!!!
Well, my friend, the problem is that the majority of people actually don't want to do that :| They are simply not interested. And I believe this is a very important thing we have to consider.

Don't forget, a great deal of people here are the ones who played live, which goes as far back as 9 years! Some of these people have children now! And the very big majority of them have serious jobs (or college ;)). So when they go and play this game, they play it for relaxation, even with their old friends, and for the good old times. I'm not saying that the majority of players are grumpy old men hah, it's just that they come to the game after work, they are tired and just want to enjoy some casual gameplay. That's really how I see it. And that's what I see from the great deal of people from our alliance (although I realize you could call us hard core, but I would argue it's quite (fundementally) different from 6 man gameplay, and I believe that that community would agree as well).

Another thing about gaming today in general, is that games are not as social anymore. You have all your MOBAs and whatever the hell the names are anymore, which don't require this amount of organization and cooperation (modern MMOs also fall into this). So the younger populations are just not interested in this kind of gameplay. The MOBAs are quick and you don't really need super communication, while they still remain competitive. I know there are very hard core tournaments out there with pro teams and all that, but I'm again speaking about the general population.

So what you have is a very niche community, that also has niche communities within itself. This is something we have to realize (and I think most of us do).

I don't really know the best way to encourage grouping up. Perhaps making medallion/gear/emblem drop at higher rates? But that again falls into that category that will be 'exploited' by the known groups. And when they are done what else will you have? Making scenario ques only possible if you are in a group (yes I mean all scenarios)? That is probably a very bad idea, because of all the things I just wrote about.

I just don't know :/

Groups already have x10 rewards to playing solo
A reasonable RvR system that could make the majority happy http://imgur.com/HL6cgl7

Again, it's not about competitive gameplay. It's about encouraging people to play scenarios as a group. And yes, the better groups will win the most, but what's bad about that? Apart from one/two premades, the rest are of a fairly similar calibre. This notion that certain premades are roflstomping is rubbish: I spend 99% of my time in scenarios, and this is not the case. The trade-off is that OTHER groups will be encouraged to group up, fight, learn, improve. What's wrong with encouraging people to improve?

You would be annoyed if people were rewarded the same for soloing in the lakes, without much reason to form warbands. It's the same thing.

Cosmetic items, more RR gain in certain scenarios - anything to get people playing as groups. It's incredibly disheartening to join scenarios, seeing loads of people seemingly happy and content to be in 3x engineer 3 BW groups, dying without end, rinse-repeating that every scenario.

That's cool, and for those people there is a pug scenario which the devs have been kind enough to give.

Then there are those of us who do intend to play the game to its highest potential, which this topic pertains to.

I would myself argue that 6v6 is about "high potential", but massive organized WB vs WB action, with multiple WBs on both sides is the highest potential for this massive multiplayer roleplaying game. ;)

I would actually agree with you. This isn't WoW arenas, the game revolves around big fights. Any endeavors to encourage grouping - regardless of scale - ought to be welcomed. :)
