I think BO is the best solo tank on destro, AoE perma snare is just to good to give up. And with shamans being meta now you have the resist buff covered and because destro casters deal mostly spirit and can debuff it themselves it's not a big deal losing aura.GodlessCrom wrote:Okay, I agree with that. Sm and Bo are worse solo tanks than Ib/spike elf. Would still probably rather have a knight or chosen as solo tank IMO. Maybe less so chosen, but knight definitely.
Fair enough, agree to disagree. Ib is much more fun to play than Knight, think we can all agree to that

The aura debuff is crap anyway (it is half the buff value, so sits around 150ish) when compared to other debuffs like BO/Zealot (corp), Sham (ele) or Sorc (spirit). The strength comes from the buff. You need those 300 points when facing so many sorcs/BWs.
Yeah AoE perma snare is awesome but still you just need to punt the BO away and he cant snare your train anymore. Smart tanks usually use KD on you immediately, punt and keep you permasnared away from the fight.
BO is definitely better than SM for solo tanking though.

I will say every single premade I've seen in the last 2-3 months - if they had a knight - it was a 2h knight, if they had a SM it was a 2h SM - if they had an IB it was because they couldn't get another 2h SM or KOTBS

Re: Order: Tank discussion
When you have a 2h kotbs & 2h sm group, it's probably because you're trying to maximise your offensive/crit potential: 2H SM, 2H KOTBS, WL & other DPS is a normal group comp for big damage (bring a SW with LS and it's epic burst time for the WL and SM). SNB KOTBS is still very viable.
SNB BO is a very good solo tank on destro, much moreso than the SM idd. Fast morale gain/aoe snare/group-wide armor and/or resi buff mean you don't feel the loss of a Chosen as much as you do a kotbs if solo tanking on sm.

Yeah I am sure SnB is "viable" in SC's, but if 2h knight and 2h SM weren't superior in SC's to their counterpart I don't think I'd see strictly only them lol. But I see what you are saying. Generally it'd probably be a better idea to max offensive/crit potential

Re: Order: Tank discussion
to be completely honest, I think at this point, any tank combo can be 'viable'. There aren't exactly a plethora of l337 hardcor3 groups around that would necessitate min-maximing to such a degree (are there any left? Xd). Heck, DPS WP works against the vast majority.

Re: Order: Tank discussion
Your tourney in CW was pretty much the last hurrah, most groups are either running the current 3-2-1 cookie cutter mirror or playing lol alt groups at least from my perspective.peterthepan3 wrote:to be completely honest, I think at this point, any tank combo can be 'viable'. But I still think if we are discussing balance it should be from or at least try to be from a competitive view point, although without any environment to study like the 6v6's during proc meta or the 24v24 organized wb battles from t3 it's really hard to do so.
Even now the range domination might just be because organized guilds are setting up to farm pugs and rvr rather than fight other organized groups like before. Which is really more about getting fast picks and gaining a numbers advantage which is only possible against unorganized parties, whereas the old 6 meta groups where about surviving and then executing on a morale dump play then proper post kill execution stopping res etc...
I can't speak for wb vs wb since I'm an NA cuck and we don't even know what that is.

If you don't want to look silly, don't pick SM, most gay looking tank in the entire game :< (ofc it's my personal opinion)
IB Looks good, but yeah he is just a little dwarf with silly helicopter as a mount.
So the anwser is Knight of the freaking biasing sun!
Grow a proper manly beard and mustache, wield zweihänder and stop those filthy chaos hordes while taking selfies in feathered Sallet helmet of pure medieval awesomeness!
