Re: [Shaman] Questions of the old shaman
But back to my question for healing on Shammy - what is the new playstyle that people are using? What is the general rotation and fluidity of the class like for the vets? Obviously hot'ing up and double hot'ing, ap draining, sticky feetz where it needs, using your bubble and so forth... but aside from that.. idk what else to do. I'm not even sure if the current shammy's are using the mechanic to their advantage now?

What do you mean? Zealot/Runepriest were always in a great spot. Think about the stagger, when you have balance in mind.wargrimnir wrote:Does this mean Zealot is the best destro healer? Dok sucks and Sham sucks apparently. Someone has to come out on top, right?
Or is it more an issue that you don't have a de-facto OVERPOWERED healer to choose over the other two? That would be our goal, the balance, oh the sweet balance...

I still hope there will be some experimentation with shammans in future when You(devs) gain controll over the client. Shaman was OP 1v1 class on live, but underperform from healing/utility perspective. With ab. ex theyr healing was great, no doubt, but it was only about raw healing numbers, not about group utility. After ab. ex was removed class just dont bring too much utility/healing on the table compared to DoK/Zealot.

Healing and lifetaps upto a certain scale were fine on live. It was the mechanic that was almost useless. It was lifetap specs that were broken by the experimental changes. For weavers and pure healing it made the mechanic usable. For dps it gave a few group options that it was lacking on live. The idea behind the experimental changes was solid and gave the career the options the mechanic seemed to be trying to on live. It was the implementation of strong lifetap to the careers already functioning heal spec that caused issues. I refused to play that way because I knew it would end up getting the whole of the experimental changes reversed and the class would be back to a single role second rate healer with little utility.
Really what you want is the class to be able to heal and dps or lifetap and dps. So it is split between roles. When the mechanic can boost both lifetap and healing you are really giving double benefit to a single spec. A spec that wasnt that bad on live, only behind the other healers due to lack of group support.

But seriously though are we supposed to just entirely ignore the mechanic or actually go back and forth with it? Can't seem to find a direct answer on this one.

I'm back to just ignoring it. Ap/GCD and heals/GCD is better when ignoring it now. Kinda sad really.

Yes Zeaots are now the best healers for Destro.wargrimnir wrote:Does this mean Zealot is the best destro healer? Dok sucks and Sham sucks apparently. Someone has to come out on top, right?

There is a difference between being functional and being overpowered. DoK's and Shaman's are atm barely functional while Zealots are. I don't see how making something underpowered is any better then overpowered tbh. I wouldn't call that ballance.

Re: [Shaman] Questions of the old shaman
Okay thank you! I'm trying to figure out how to actually make it really heal haha. Working with using my HoT's and always having AP drain up. The 2 seconds cast is what I am slowly working on getting through but I'm not used to having a ranged silence so I'll be trying to get that in the back of my brain too. Swear you have to work so dang hard on this class to make any real healing impact lol but it is the only way that I can do the RDPS groups b/c for me DoK is truly the most fun to play in big melee brawls.Ugle wrote:I'm back to just ignoring it. Are you sure it's 1 second? It feels like it's around 2 for the archmage. It's been bugging me since I started my AM. I can move while I cast it, but it takes about 2 seconds to fire.catholicism198 wrote:1. iirc, they were having some issue with the code and the current team does/did not know how to adjust it, so they removed it until they could make some real changes.Nabaro wrote:Hello. I have been away from the game for a long time. And now I see that completely removed the experimental shaman's build. Instead, it now has an old build with minor changes.
Question 1. Did experimental build deleted forever? I really liked it. In addition to the dull healbotting in it, I could quite productively use theft of life(I'll take that). That allowed me to approach the burst treatment to the more popular heal class. But now, everything is bad with a burst.
Question 2. The new old mechanics behaves is very strange.
When the gork / mork have five points, some skills should be instant, in fact they are not. The cast passes instantly, but the numbers appear with a delay of 1-3 seconds. And if you do not just wait on the spot, the skills will not work at all. Do I need to write about this on a bugtracker or is it a known problem?
1.5. I'll Take That! did 0.000000000001% damage to the target, with a mechanic point, so there was no real 'burst' potential.
It did a flat 200-250 damage- no crits.
2. Ignore the tool tips as the abilities are not actually instant cast like they were pre-.ab ex- Brain Busta and I'll Take That! actually have a 1 second cast time, but you cannot see the cast bar with Brain Busta- the projectile for Brain Busta fires at about 0.5 seconds but you won't see the damage until the cast is completed at about 1 second- this is the main reason as to why you see the delay in damage. If you move before the cast is completed- it will cancel out the ability, but you still see the projectile.
Re: [Shaman] Questions of the old shaman
Most of my experience comes from DPSheal AM. Made shaman thinking same tactics would be available ect.freshour wrote:But seriously though are we supposed to just entirely ignore the mechanic or actually go back and forth with it? Can't seem to find a direct answer on this one.
I never much experimented with the .ab or exactly what it did.
From my experience, lets say youve casted 5 heals, you will get decreased cast time for your dps spell. Then you would have to recast the 5 heals spells to get the reduced cast time and vice versa for heal affect.
The new model as far as I can tell, you rack up 5 points from healing, it still decreases cast time but now only takes out 1 rather than the whole stored amount.
At least this how it seems to me, I am enjoying it much more! To answer your question unless you enjoy doing dpsheal just stick to heal. Once youve casted 5 heal spells, cast 'I'll take that' it will damage your enemy and give your def target a nice little heal for a fraction of the cast time. This is essentially how it works.
In battle sometimes you notice its affect more than other times, cast your 'life leeka' the dot, on about 4 people then use your 'bigger better n greener' heal spell, you will notice a decrease in its cast time.
Just the basics of how it works.
Keep your mind on it, if youve been casting a lot of dps in a row you get a quick heal, if youve been casting a lot of heal you get a quick dps heal. But its not essential and can be tricky to pull off, the new mechanic helps in its duration and effectiveness, which is nice.
