Logged in after 2 years inactive- All characters are gone

after about 2 years of inactivity, ive come back to RoR and all my characters are missing. Martyrs Square was the server. Im curious if they are gone for good
if it helps, in that time i did uninstall RoR and reformat the same computer i used the first time.
any help would be appreciated

There was a clean up of inactive accounts back in september 2016, where any accounts that were inactive from April 2016 or longer were wiped.

No problem. Just log in from time to time and your account should be safe in the future

I've had about the same amount of inactivity and received an email newsletter asking me to come back to the game which I thought why not but after you saying characters got wiped I don't think I'll bother, I had a few high level characters and you just went ahead a wiped them, Why ?

Considering high level was T3 and RR cap was 40? There were many reasons. We had around 100k characters that were never played outside of T1. We had released T4 with much fanfare, and figured if old players didn't come back then, they wouldn't bother, ever. We only recently had the ability to send out a newsletter, else we would have done it around the time of the wipe.

In the end, if you don't intend to stay, why ask at all? It's a free, alpha state game. Things happen. At least for the record, we don't intend to do another wipe in the future.
