These days you avoid all of above because it barely gives any rewards, so ideally out of party healing should start rewarding like it did on live, but possible with more barriers and max gains from doing so. It's a fine line balancing between decent out of party renown gains from healing, and making it the most profitable way to rank up renown like on live (it was awesome rain of purple back then).
One idea that was floated was allowing a percentage of your OOG heals to reward renown based on the size of your group.

You'd still get nothing for playing solo and healing OOG.
With a duo you would get 4% of your normal gains for OOG healing.
With a 6man you would get 25% of your normal gains for OOG healing.
With a full WB you would get 100% of your normal gains for OOG healing.

That is interesting and could help once tweaked to perfection and avenues for potential abuse sorted out and removed.

A couple of things to think about:

1. I think you should still get something for being alone and healing. You could be out of range of your warband (ie solo) or unable to get into a warband due to spots being filled etc. Also keep in mind that any DPS you would be helping in those scenarios do not get penalized period for killing out of group.

2. What if you are the odd man out in a partially full warband? IE you are alone in group or not full but still contributing? That would need to be addressed as well.


I suppose that could be addressed by setting a minimum of 5% out of group healing. Then scale it up in increments based on group size until capped at 100% (or whatever in a full warband). Like if in a group, but not a warband it caps at 25% but in a warband, regardless of individual group status withing the warband, scales up per person within the entire warband to the maximum?

Think that would help with both things I identified (should you agree with me that is). It would encourage healers to group for way more rewards yet still give them 'something' in the event they cant find a group right away so they dont log off or into other toons. It would also prevent people from creating small closed warbands to exploit the warband bonus (if it was even worth exploiting of course :p), etc.

Overall I like the concept and it is far better than the current situation. I think you are on to something with this

Yes, the idea was that each additional member of the group would account for ~4.16%, I just gave the different values to show what it would be worth at common levels.

That´s really interesting. Would that take a lot of development effort to implement this ? At least somehow experimental ?

If hot leeching is the problem, just nerf rr gains from hots, and give normal rewards from direct healing. If i see a dps in a 2v1 situation and help him secure kills with direct burst healing why on earth would i not get rewarded for it regardless of group status?

Wargrimnir already had a good solution, type of healing used should not be an issue. "Oh you can use that heal to help a friendly player but NOT that one, naha, no reward for you!"
