rng makes geaing up fun and frustrating. You would rather have a "ruin gear" system in place? how boring. Rng gambling element is one of the hooks for many players in mmos.
Now mabye there are some extreme cases of bad luck they could remedy. Say you could turn in 5 pieces of conq or genesis...and get a token to purchase your choice of said set[/quote]


Well you're half right, RNG makes gearing up frustrating... If i wanted a "gambling" element, I'd goto a casino. lvl 51 renown, and of the 3 gold bags ive won, ALL were a helmet...plain old frustrating, no fun.

Ok lets be honest. Sub Anni gear is in no way shape or form hard to come by. Just tie it into your ToK make it to where a character must have the complete set, before they can start getting drops for next set (out of bags) Introduce an up convert to conq. 10x1 up charge. 5 conq's per day. so a person could exchange 50 officers for 5 conq, but only once per 24 hrs.

Its a good change no doubt in it. Right direction of improving. Especially the zone ones, often asked and probably long awaited.

Still rng in getting gear like subj or genesis is huge. Like i have 8 purple bags and all of them contained 1h and 2h weapons, and my last 5 blue bags gave me genesis aspects. Conq was ok even before, i was able to manually buy 3 pieces of my conq set, and i have 3 duplicates for maybe second set with different talis.

But to be honest you dont really need that kind of gear. In rvr your best strategy is to outnumber your opponents. You can participate in that kind of playstyle right from lvl 16.

True, gear matters more in SC's. Rvr is more about overwhelming the other sides healing with massed aoe.

Perhaps it's simply visual, or as I would call it psychical but the main point isn't the RNG itself but the frustration of receiving yet another duplicate after a 3 hour fight. I've talked to a guy who told me it took him 6 (SIX) months to get his subjugator 2h, by the time he already had: RR45 offensive 1h, RR45 defensive 1h, RR45 shield and RR45 two hander. You can get EXTREMELY unlucky because of that system and people do not care because they got lucky. Well screw me because I didn't get lucky.

Well, I can accept some kind of RNG but I don't like when it's being unnecessarily applied to rewards. Getting same stuff over and over isn't fun for me personally. As I've said, it's not only about the RNG itself but the frustration of getting yet another duplicate which can be quite discouraging.

I realise I must sound like an ungrateful saltmine, RoR is great and all and I enjoy playing it but goddamn is rng really that necessary.

The word you are looking for is "pyschological"

But I take your point. The randomn nature is something that made me abandon my slayer for all but guild nights and roll an alt with a spec and focus geared towards Dominator gear.

The drop rate could be so low that it'd take months of grinding to secure the genesis and sub I need via a token/exchange grind but it's something that is far more encouraging than a lottery system.

The devs have made themselves clear in that they find tokens boring but it can not be ignored that all the successful mmos have tokens while the rng dependent mmos are far less popular or use a pay to advance model to escape the rng.

i understand, but scenario weapons are a grind. Rvr bags add some excitment. You get that bag you need and you pray as you wait for it in mail. Then youre either fist pumping or slamming your fist into your keyboard....some excitment either way.

Mabye increase number of conq medals in gold bags....what is it 5 atm? seems like a low number to take over a dupe.

as far as subjugator though, i dont think everyone is meant to have them. If you want it, it may take you awhile...could still offer alt loot like genesis frags or higher conq medals instead of craft mats

Genesis probably needs some kind of medal system to choose instead of crafting mat alternatives over dupes


still they need to keep the carrot dangling far enough in front until they can get the next tier ready for launch I suppose

Considering the medal cost of conq items, that is a fair point. 5 medals for dupe that costs 200+ is a bit teeth grinding.

It's catch 22 for the staff. Conq is endgame currently so it needs to be an achievement, needs to be earned with a real sense you have worked hard and been rewarded for this gear.

In rvr that means participating in the realm war, taking and holding objectives, sieges and slaying the foul minions of the opposing side and they are trying to create a system that rewards such behaviour.

SC's are basicly arena fights and the token system works for that kind of system.

A token system in rvr could and will be abused very quickly and easily.

The devs are damned by the playerbase whatever they try and do.
