I feel your pain... every time me or some other from my group manage to get a new or returning player to join we always roll a new char to play with him... and only use those characters when he/she is online, this is especially true for new player who actualy want to roll an healer or a tank (true tank and not a tank just to equip it with 2h and run around as a dps...)... while in PvP the restriction is not so problematic (you already get so little xp in RvR that getting less is not really a problem ^^') if you happen to find one of those moment when RvR is totally onesided or just want to boost your level a bit and start looking at PvE... as a pure healer or pure tank it really is a pain (pure tank become howesome at grinding later on but before 30 they are a pain to exp solo ^^' ) if you don't have a group to play with... and finding one with this added restriction is even more of a pain ^^'Luuca wrote:Gerv,Gerv wrote:Hey mate, this is a PvP game, stop trying to change the core focus of the game and stop trying to cheat ways to quickly level. The use of the word cheat threw me. I wish you would not have used that word. We had some new players we were trying to introduce to the game - a group game - and we were all being penalized for grouping. Yes it's an RvR game. Yes we are all trying to level quickly - both level and rr level. But to call us cheaters for making note of an issue in T1 grouping just sucks.

Re: Relaxing the Lvl gap on XP nerf
Someone think of the newbies!
Please. T1 takes all of a day to level out of, solo, on pretty much any class, and there's enough influx of players that they can find someone their level if they tried for 30 seconds.
A rank 9 character has no business being in the rank 3 area. All you're doing is removing any aspect of danger or challenge to leveling which makes it about as interesting as a wet paper bag.
There's a mentality that's along the lines of "man i wish i could just skip all of this... now how to do it" which involves getting hand-held by someone significantly stronger than the area in question. Or riding the back of someone in a much higher level area like a little baby being carried to the promise land. Both of these tend to be crappy results of relaxing the level gap, so we're not gonna do that.
What's generally worked for me in the past (15+ years of MMO experience), is taking a look at the social menu, selecting the zone i want to level in, and sending a message to anyone near my level in that zone "hello frend, let us adventure together for glory and mudkips".
Shocking, I know.

Re: Relaxing the Lvl gap on XP nerf
For the record, my rank 9 SM gets rekt by lvl 9 mobs. I can barely get 2 before I have to wait for health regen. So I farm mobs 3lvls below me. Shockingly, a lvl 3 Rp healing me while I killed mobs three lvls difference from both of us didn’t seem gamebreakibg to me. It also takes more than a day to lvl out of T1 late night NA. And if that’s the case, Y’know, 1 day total or “no time at all”, wtf does it matter... why force an arbitrary grind before I even have access to guard. Yup. Gonna learn so much...
I’ll stop asking or posting anything related to Lvling or xp gains... I disagree entirely but you’ve made yourselves clear.

I find your replies to be dismissive and flippant. This is not an attempt to cheat the system. This is an honest observation of an area that impacts first impressions of a game you and I are trying to grow and flourish.
Thank you for your dismissive replies and unfounded accusations.

Hey, I'm not the one bringing up the same request over and over. I can explain nicely, then someone will bring it up again. I can explain rather bluntly, someone will bring it up again. I can be a **** about it, well, I guess we can wait and see how long until someone brings it up again.
Re: Relaxing the Lvl gap on XP nerf
If this topic had been gone over before, in detail, I apologize. I did not see that topic. May I respectfully suggest that, as your first reply to a post you inform the posted that this topic had been asked and answered and direct him toa forums search to find the original thread. IMO, as a proponent of the game, I would use the response you gave this thread initially as the third and final response and not the first.wargrimnir wrote:Hey, I'm not the one bringing up the same request over and over. Re: Relaxing the Lvl gap on XP nerf
I partly agree with boths sides here, and here is my view on this matter :
- Partly I agree, as I think this "problem", exists because of the low population and not bumping into very similarly leveled players at every place. Level gap increase would fix it and encourage grouping.
- On the other hand I disagree because there are so many ways to level up and some of them are even fun. SCs are really good even in T1 and RvR can be really enjoyable aswell, when it's not totally one-sided. Also finding another player around your level is not that difficult, a simple hi can go a long way. Also the above "fix" would encourage what Wargrimnir said, which is grinding with too high level players, and it would ruin a whole part of the game.
This system will work better as new and more players will arrive, until then as always the community has to stick and work together ----> This is where the problem lies.
Too many RvR warbands are full of AFK people at objectives, people just flaming each other in SCs , some even AFK there too. Or reading chat is just full of people blaming something instead of trying to work together and fix it.
This is a private alpha project of a dead game with a fairly small but growing community. Maybe with a bit of a better avarage attitude than in other mmos this problems wouldn't exist.
I am just a new player on this server, but that is my two cents on the matter. I am enjoying playing and interacting with people whatever i do.

Re: Relaxing the Lvl gap on XP nerf
Careful Luuca, there’s one way that argument ends.
I did search btw. I thought out my post to not achieve any form of cheating or Ez pass through T1. Imo, those would be changes that could help and make players lives mildly easier upon creation. especially when you already have an xp penalty for killing mobs higher/lower than your lvl range...
For me, it’s the insinuations that I want to avoid or cheat my way through that’s on my neck. Nope not me at all. I’m the one doing all night grinding sessions to farm or lvl myself. I’m a guy that farmed Ragnarok Online for WoE every week. I could care less. However, most people ain’t me.
I dunno why asking for some QoL for the first 10 ranks deserves derision, or asking for some form of explanation as to wtf the plan is to stop everyone and their mother solo PUG surfing, simply because that is he fastest way to lvl/rr up....
But hey. You made yourself clear in this thread. Ask for something you guys made a decision on and get that response. Check.

I dunno, if you just do a search for "leveling" there's stuff going back for ages. Scan for red or green names, and you find the stuff you're looking for.

Re: Relaxing the Lvl gap on XP nerf
Ok. So anything in regards to xp gain in any way is considered to of already been gone over. Got it.
Btw grim. In that thread you posted, your suggestion was to form an Open Group. Yes. That works until someone 2 lvls higher than you and another 3 lvls below you join and everyone’s xp dies.
I DID search for this. Yea. Lots of people bitching about xp gains and PL(myself included) which is why I wrote the opening paragraph on this OP. I just wanted a possible rethink on how group xp nerf is calculated. Especially since, as I have said like 12 times now, xp gain is already nerfed if you kill mobs outside your lvl range. If your both Within the lvl range of a particular mob... how is that a negative?
