Quality of Equipment

Hi,
I dont like the Idea of great Quality Difference in Equipment in that Sort of Game, People should play for Fun and not for Loot. There are a Truckload of Games where you dont get any Loot at all (e.g. Ego Shooters) that People just play for Fun, to improve their Skill and not their Equipment. And that way People with a lot of free time have a big advantage over People that may have only 2 hours a day to "waste" on Computer Games.
I might be alone with that oppinion, and its pretty sure it will not change, but i would like to hear some other Peoples thoughts.

PS: There could be other, less valuable, Rewards like Trinkets that give you a Damage absorbing Shield every half an Hour, make you immune to Root etc for 10 secs, etc...

You miss the point of the whole mmorpg idea with your statement... developing the character is the base concept behind every rpg game

Equipment makes us be able to theory craft our characters the way we want to play. Gear is a great motivation to keep playing and play better to get that blue purple and gold bagz.
You may wanna try another game such as Overwatch or Paladins.

I think the gear threadmill is a terrible game design that sucks alot of the fun out of a game. Luckily, it is not really that bad in this game.

Gear and significant impact of gear on gameplay are a must imo. It gives a feeling of accomplishment, you worked hard for it, you get a cookie. As others mentioned this is the principle or RPGs.

It would be great to have even more sets, offensive/defensive. Combining different sets is the best. You get some kind of unique feel of each build. Now conq bonuses frequently win over everything, but luckily dev's try to introduce new stuff.

Want quick play, play Smite.

You actually dont get a cookie, you get a huge advantage over your Competitors/Enemies.
"You worked hard for it" oh well i cant share that view point at all. For me Games doesnt feel like working :D.
I agree with the Statements of Developing Character etc., in a PvE Game - for those who like it.
I feel that in a PvP Game even the Beginner should, if he has the Skill (I mean Player Skill), be able to put up at least a good fight to the Veteran, and not only be an easy Victim. Better Stuff, ok if you feel the need to be "rewarded" for your "hard work", but just slightly - equal Chances and good Balancing are the Core of PvP, no?

PS: I do play Smite occasinally. But i dont see how you can compare the 2 Games. Its something completely different.

I wouldn't call it huge advantage, devs do their best to make power-gap between gear sets as low as possible, yet tempting to get. Only real difference I noticed is getting higher and higher in RR which unlocks new possibilities with builds and renown points distribution.

Anyways, players need the incentive to keep playing, if everyone was already lvl 40 with equal gear then most would leave after few weeks. Keeping sets as a cosmetic would work only for a portion of playerbase as many are simply stat-whores. In a matter of 2 months the server would become a wasteland

There are games without gear progression and games with gear progression.

Play one for one feature and another for another feature.

I play WoWS and this game, each provides it's own flavour.

Aye, if people take the time to actualy look at Ruin, Anni, Merc, Dom, Conq, Redey and the upcoming Onslaught they will see there isn't actualy that big a stat progression but there is a different spread of bonuses.

The devs are trying for customisation via gear, not superiority via gear.

Prety much this. I am a bit worried about the onslaught set. Resource proc for healers seem pretty mandatory and given the comments from staff the set may be quite difficult to get.
