Location of server/IP address?

I'm a new RoR player, old WAR player (since closed beta). I started playing since last week, a lot of good memories have resurfaced. I even found myself sub-consciously reaching to touch keys on my keyboard where I had bound certain abilities (9 years ago!!!). lol.

Anyway, to my question:

I did a search for this, couldn't find anything. I wanted to know where the server is located and if possible it's IP address so I can check my latency to it (unless there is somewhere in-game I can check my ping, which I don't remember/couldn't find).

I'm often getting really bad bursts of lag which freeze everything for 5 - 10 seconds. Obviously not good for heated battles in RvR.

I found the IP for the actual RoR site, which seems to be hosted in the US, and my ping to that is only 20ms, but there's no way that can be my server ping too, the lag is too noticeable, so I don't think the server is in the same place as the site.

I'm in New Zealand btw.

I think I remember reading that the game server is located in France, could be mistaken though...

I pinged a few random french sites and my latency is around 300 ms. Not as bad as I expected from NZ, but would that explain the lag I get that freezes everything for 5 - 10 sec?

Check the link in my signature to reduce lag.

Do you use VPN?
I had that freeze lag using VPN.

Well, NZ rly needs to sort their inet out mate!! XD was a pain in the ass playing from there... I tried VPNs like WTFast etc but no luck in smoothing out the connection. Do you have your own router? Connected through LAN cable? Being on wifi only and sharing the router with flatmates results in a worse gaming experience. ^^ Good luck to you bro and welcome back to WAAAGH!! \m/

Some things can't be fixed, like connecting to a server on the literal other side of the planet with reasonable ping times.

Pretty much this im guessing your in the high 40 in hops if you had a direct to the server you would still have a bit of lag. It wouldnt matter what the server architecture. Out side of the bitterstone idea which ia basically limiting the calls your client make to the server your SOL

I don't know if this would help you but I used it in the past for Wow.

support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/328890/new-registry-entry-for-controlling-the-tcp-acknowledgment-ack-behavior

If you do this take special care as you can screw up your computer by entering the wrong numbers in the registry.
