Veteran players, which class for soloing?

Hi there,

I never got to t4 when I played WAR, and only played a little bit of scarcely populated, twink-dominated t3, so I need veteran players to give some advice on which class to roll for soloing. Obviously it will take ages before we get to later tiers and things will change a lot, but that is precisely why I need your insight. I don't want to judge a class by its performance in t1, cos I mean to stick to one or two toons and learn the class inside out with a view to continuity throughout the game. I know some ppl will say we're only in pre-Alpha yet or just play the one you enjoy the most, but I lack a complete overview of the game, so I need advice.

For a variety of reasons I'm not interested in AM or shaman, nor stealth classes. I prefer melee chars with lots of survivability and I don't like the looks of dwarfs or high elves. I'm not confined to one of the two realms. To narrow it down to a few choices, I'm undecided between mara, bg, chosen, black orc, melee WP or kotbs. I wouldn't rule out magus, cos I saw some absolutely amazing magus in t3. When I played t2 I was awed by the incredible survivability of blackguard, and some maras were awesome too solo in t3 (undoubtedly twinked), although I lost all respect for some of them after watching how they used Call to WAR when they were losing a fight. Melee WPs looked good on papaer with the AoE detaunt and self heal with sigmars radiance but at least in t3 I was dying too easily when not 1v1 against melee.

My idea would be a durable character who could roam the lakes without being easily killed and able to deal some damage (maybe not burst, but at least sustained enough to wear down an enemy and have a chance at killing things)

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

^ Well that definitely would be a marauder :o
Still.. even though you said you don't like stealth classes, WH is hilarious for solo action, since you got quite a few ways to specc him and counter pretty much all melees or also magical users in 1v1s

I would love to play Bright Wizard in heavy flame armor with shield and one-handed wand, 360° block, self heal and 500ft casting range. But Mythic never made it possible. Shame on them. None of the classes is solo.

But if you're ready to predict situation and constantly change gear and build accordingly, KOtBS is, probably, the closest thing to solo in this game. Or Mara, but I killed them with my KOtBS.

i suggest marauder for destro , because on Monstrosity nutation , y are tough enough to survive.
Never play order but in my opinion, engi or sw are fast can root enemys and kill some weakened enemies.
In fact last days are not to good for orvr action- small groups besieged the camps, that all.
Seems like we need a orvr event soon......without a server crash:).

I would say marauder too. Imo the only two things the class doesn't have, are guard+groupheal. :D

What are you laughing at? Anything that gives an edge is useful.

Hi Luth, like people say 'grass is always greener, in my neighbors garden " :).
For example i meet soem Engi Inspectorgadget who is almost unkiliable for me, and he/she kill me minute after minute.
With group of rdps Shammys , rdps Zelaot, rdsp DoK and SORC, Mara can do nothing , so dont be sad. ;) Soem slayers just have a pocket AM and WP, and they are thoug as rock.

Now Ror is orenieted more for rdps , but good days for meelers will still come, i hope.

I was just mocking about the various possibilities of T4 marauders. Wasn't really ontopic.
