Really appreciate this post and the transparency, gives a lot of hope moving forward IMO. Lot of posts bashing Torq like always so figure I should add my experiences with him. I talk on the forums alot, love some of his changes, bash plenty of others (I bitched about guardian WLs almost daily in /3 even though I have a geared one, also hated disrupt changes). I think I'm a decent player and got lotta high RR toons so have ended up interacting with torq a few times at random stuff (dueled his Beastmaster with my WL and talked a ton about the changes and balance of it with him, tried to help pin down some SH bugs, bitched a ton about disrupt changes after getting ganked by his WH once ). Long story short I've had more interactions with him than I imagine the average player does and 0 of those have been negative.

Yes he's blunt, probably comes off as rude plenty of the time. Since he's not getting paid at all for the ton of work he puts into this project that always seemed fair to me, plus the players are just as rude and blunt in forums to him so not like it's out of nowhere most of the time. This message is really just aimed at new people that are "afraid" of the big bad devs because of all the negativity here (which IMO seems to be fueled by a few very vocal people with multiple forum accounts). If you aren't an ass to the devs then you really have nothing to worry about in my experience, I'm a bit of a rude jerk half the time and have managed to level tons of alts and play on this server way too much without any bans or repercussions. Don't let the extremely loud vocal minority scare you away from a great game.

Also I've had literally 1 interaction with Aza. I showed up at the Q&A very excited to hear the answers to multiple questions I or others had submitted. I ended up losing an hour and a half of my life listening to him bitching about Torq at an event he had CLEARLY setup under false pretenses. Found it extremely ironic he was complaining about devs being unprofessional at a Q&A he had basically lied to us about. Then he leaves immediately after his rant and isn't there to answer any of the balance questions I had actually come for, making the other devs clean up his mess. I love his changes and am sad to see a good coder go but based on my interactions with both of them I think the right one is leaving the project. Torq may be rude and blunt at times but Aza lied to the entire community's face and basically held us hostage during a gaming event to force us to listen to him rant. Not good times IMO.

That means R&D can't talk unblockable to Destro or Order Chars, can't send someone to the moon, can't ban someone.

It is naive, team members have known each other for years now. It is not hard for one from R&D team to tell GM that this and that player is mischevious/trolling/anything and that he should do something about it. It might look transparent on the outside but it's a void rule. Stripping people of their powers will stop some of the abuse but it will still be there, just on a different level.

Population got severe hit, 500 players in EU primetime is not something you can ignore. Community is divided, unvocal players ignore what is happening, but they also don't contribute via discussions/bug reports that much. What is the plan to reinstitue peoples trust in team, what is the plan to get them involved in the project again. People have seen proof of the abuse of one guy and that guy stays in team, how can they be sure it won't happen again, charts are nice, but as we could see in the past the basic rule 'don't be a ****' didn't apply to team members so why would it now?

Yaliskah, thanks for your honest and heartfelt post in return here's one of my own.

I'd just like to preface this by saying I've never personally suffered an issues with Torque. This post feels like to me that your trying to shield torque and his actions which in my opinion are indefensible.

Could Aza have approached this in a more sensible manor rather than setting up an unsanctioned Q&A going behind the teams back ofc he could I can't deny that. But you also can't deny that this situation was the result of Torques actions. Ok he's been stripped of his GM powers, ok he's not going to be interacting with the community great, but I'm sorry for me its just not enough and I quit (I know its no big loss, I'm just a casual shitter anyway).

Good luck with the project, and thank you to all the team past and present for giving me the chance to play WAR again.

To be 100% honest the last drama on QnA session made me thing if RoR isnt about to an end. I was worried about the future and could not get rid of my head Aza words about Apocalypse server. I ended up downloading Apocalpyse version of WAR. I joined and was a bit shocked, how similiar but different servers are at the same time. RoR devs made theyr job well and You brought some skills/tactics and even classes from shade in to the light. With all respect some changes just went too far in my opinion and thanks to Apocalypse server one can see how classes were on theyr original state and how far we get even in negative meaning of this words.

Thank You for Your long post. Thank You that You dont give up with the RoR. Thank you Devs for all of Your time You put in to this game insted of spending it with Your friends and famillies.

I second live4treasure, if both aza/torque betrayed something you are not be neutral kicking out aza. Especially since you feel part of that side being betrayed by aza.
Both should be kick out or both should stay (and possibly work on their own things as much that would be possible. Torque didnt get punished at all, he did not lost anything worth so what was hia punishment? He's going to do litteraly what he would like by your letter (and he so not care for other ppl.opinion ) so what us the dmg he suffered? You think since the "pubblic shame" happened that hold some value for torque but thats you, not torque feeling. Me/you/us dont just know. Since he's going to do what he wanted this feel like a present rather than a punishment.

That said, i think the division between dev and mod/gm can be appreciate.

Anyway you are now the owner, yea, ok, and so you are not bound to my words or others aswell but well i suggest you re think that part about aza involvement into the project due:

1- because if he's good for the project than he should be put at use no matter the personals feeling, this is what mean being neutral even if it lead to being utilitarist.

2-you can now keep anything in balance between members as you have decided to step up rightly.
to that supreme position so any contrast can be decides by your imperio/will alone all the time. You are now the supreme judge so put that part of you at good use. So even if there a sigthly contrast between ppl, that dosent matter ...the project matter and you will deal with it the way the project / game can benefith more both in term of development and in term of comunity.

To sum:
-keep em all
-make rules and divisions
-put em all at good work for the common goal
-decide yourself when there is a division on something

But again keep em all , a good king keep all the ppl he can for the sake of the common good.

Punishing also mean he got hit by something which hurt, that prerogative restriction are not a real punishment. It's just what happen when internal organization being restructured..

Look i'm not doing a which hunt here, not saying he must be punished at all cost but the talk about aza being bad and torque being punishes enough is not correct imo. I want to put some realism here aza should be re introdices and every one should do just what they suppose to do and rest be deal by yali according to it. End of drama and good work put up again.

And a final note it should be stop to lie to us about balance section , that was a whole team lie to the comunity. Put that at use or close it and leave only suggestiona open. We prefer being less important that being lied upon how much we are (while we aren't).

Edit: also get in touch with genisaurua because he had anticipated all these internal organization problems long ago, if not even for re recruit him at least to get aome advice on how run the project for the future.
